I ordered an eGo 900 batt from GoodProphets, and they threw in a 510 carto (the kind with the rubber tip). I have never been keen on cartos, but I figured I might as well try it since it was there. I filled it up and vaped without issue for the rest of the day (it was late afternoon/early evening when I filled it).

Fast forward to the next day, I wake up late for class. So I get in the car and I am trying to enjoy my first vape of the day on my way to the college. I get plenty of good hits, then about a mile from school, the carto just goes dead. The vapor production was perfect up to the last hit, then absolutely nothing. No sound, no vapor when I activate the switch. I filled it back up when I got home, but I still get nothing.

I vape about 250 puffs a day, so the carto probably had less than 100 puffs on it when it died. Did I do something wrong, or is this about how long I can expect a carto to last? I hadn't even refilled it once. I am hoping this is a fluke, because it lasted longer than my XL atty/cart combo typically last before I have to refill the cart, and it's much smaller. I would like to get some more cartos, but not if they're gonna die this fast!

For what it's worth I've never had one die that fast so it probably is a fluke. I've been using cartos on my eGo since May and have only had one die outright for no apparent reason. I've had others die but it was only after cleaning and fiddling around trying to adjust them via a straightened paperclip. Bottom line - I wouldn't judge cartos by this one instance.

I too have to agree. I have been a carto only user for over 6 months now. I started and still use the KR808D-1 (only managed to totally kill 3 of those). I now use mostly the 510 cartos (specifically the BOGE with silver threads). I do tend to top them off often (at least twice per day). I also run them at 6v most of the time. I have only killed a few of those and at my own fault. I let them get too dry. I have a small coffee can full of cartos that I put aside for cleaning (taste went to crap on them) in the event of desperate times. Aside from maybe 5 DOA cartos out of over 600 and an occasional carto with sloppy threading, I have had no issues to speak of. I definitely think your case was a fluke. I would give them a solid chance.

It also maybe - since it was a freebe - the they were giving away a brand cartomizers that they had had complaints about and thus were no longer going to sale. I buy the cheapest cartomizers I can fine - mostly they are good - but every once in awhile I will buy some that are problematic. Like this last batch I bought - someone on this forum said this place had a deal on cartos - and I went to a site I have never heard of and they had green cartomizers for < $6 for five. I had never seen green 510 cartomizers - but as one of my ego's is green - I was really happy to find them. They came yesterday - one worked for about 6 hours one was dead right out of the box - and I am on the third. But - I have never before had such bad luck with cartomizers before.

I have had a couple of cartos "die fast". But then I took them off of the battery (eGo), cleaned the connection, and guess what... it worked again. But I assume you've done this and the carto was still dead? Point is, all it was (in my case), was battery neglect on my part. When my cartos died, I couldn't draw from them anymore... like they were all plugged up. THEN they got tossed.

Well I just bought a Wetbox a few weeks ago, and got cartos to use with it. The first I destroyed because the instructions for the Wetbox were not clear and did not say to prefill the carto and only pump 5 drops into it. Well it burned up quick. The next 5 all had the same thing happen to them the the op had happen. I prefilled them and they would vape fine for 6 or so hours then die. I first thought it was the battery that went dead, but if I put my atty on or a new carto it worked fine. I tried the carto that did not work on my 510 and nothing there. I tried to clean it and let it dry for a few days refilled it and still nothing. So like the op I am not sure what I am doing wrong, or if there is a way to fix the issue.

I'm experiencing somewhat the same problem. I've been vaping since Feb. and have always bought the prefilled cartos for my 808. Unfortunately, some of them get too hot, so I decided to get some empty ones from FSUSA with my last order of juice. I have to admit that the juices all taste better in these than they did in the prefilled ones. However, the first one died after 7 days, which isn't bad, but the second one lasted just 2 days. At the end of the 2nd day, I refilled it and put it on my box mod and pushed the button and nothing happened. I then replaced it with a prefilled one and that one worked fine. I then tried it on an older battery that works great with the prefilled ones and still nothing, even after cleaning the end that screws on. I then proceeded to blow the juice out, so I could start from scratch. I couldn't even do that. My air went right on thru. I finally found a couple juices i really like, after 10 months, but now need to find some good quality cartos. I might get brave and risk the extra money on some green cigs.
