So I got my 510 in the mail today. Per the instructions, I screwed the atomiser onto the battery, pushed a cart on, and started vaping! It works well. The experience is not, for me, yet a replacement for smoking, it feels weird a bit, and I don't really taste anything out of the juices. I tried 4 different cartridges already and to me they all taste the same... water with a little flavoring. I have juice, but I'm not ready to dive into that yet.

My first real question is... are my pieces fully charged? I ask this because I bought a PCC for the 510, and I can't seem to get the battery in it. I have no idea what to do. I tried placing it in, pushing it down, turning it (like, to screw it in?) but it's a manual so it has the button thingy on it. I can't figure out how to get the battery into the PCC to charge it, and then to close the PCC with that battery in, because the battery sticks out too far and won't stay in the unit. That is my biggest question, cause I'd like to take it to work later today. :)

So other thoughts - I'm going to have to wait a day or two to see if this actually works. Initially, it's pretty cool. It's definitely cool that I can smoke inside, and I do feel nicotine going into me, so that's a good sign. So far, so good. We'll see how I feel tomorrow.

The funny thing is, this morning, I realized I was out of cigarettes, so I walked down to the store, and when I got back, my vape was here. Of course. :)

The prefilled carts vary so much as to their ejuice content. Some have evaporated, or simply weren't topped off to begin with, it seesm. Adding a few drops of ejuice directly to the atomizer bridge - the metal mesh nubbin you see sticking up in the atomizer chamber - will help with both flavor and vapor but don't put more than 2 drops on, on refills. IOW, put some juice in the filler on the cartridge, 2 drops on the bridge, a few more on the cartridge filler without overfilling - so you can see some texture on the top not just a bubble of juice.

My first real question is... are my pieces fully charged?

Sometimes they are sometimes only @40% charged.

If you look in the battery slot from the top you'll see a path for the button on the manual battery - no need to screw it in. Just shut the top and the red light should come on - IF the PCC itself is charged - that takes about 4 hours. But if it's charged and the red light doesn't come on when you close the lid, then you might tape a pad - cork, paper, to the top of the lid over where the batter top (led) would touch. If you just push the battery down with the lid up you should see the light go on.

Yeah, I just realized 2 of the batteries fit, but not the third, which was the one I was trying to use. :) It's a mega. :) I don't understand "Are you making sure you're atyy's off?" What do you mean off?

I was just making sure you had the atty unscrewed from the batt, and not trying to jam the whole thing in there:)

Since you're covered on the PCC/battery questions, I just wanted to add:

You may not be tasting much because of the primer on your atty's - even with a good blow, it'll be a little while before that's gone and you're really just getting the liquid in the carts. You might also find your atty performing a little better over the first day.

The pre-filled cart juices to me aren't all that great, so I think you'll be quite happy after you vape one dry then clean the cart and polyfill, and refill with juice. It's easy, and kinda fun to keep your hands busy.

Finally, remember that your taste buds have been getting hammered daily for a minute now. As you begin to vape more than you smoked, and if you maybe go full vape you'll notice your taste buds coming back, as well as your sense of smell. Both will make a big difference. A corollary - juice you might not like right now might taste really good in a week or two. You never know.

Happy vaping!! :)

that reply was to the first person - Kent, thank you for your long and detailed response! That helped SO much. I put 1 drop of menthol (better to go light than to overdo it and ruin my atty) and it tastes much better. I'm off to work, vape in hand!

Glad I could help. And yes, thelook was asking if you took the attys off before inserting the batt in. A good possibility too ;-)

You can actually charge your mega in the PCC if you use a rubber band to keep it down in the charger.

Just got my 510 today too (been/still using a KR808D) I rinsed the atty off with hot water quite a few times, blew dry... primed the atty with a few drops of juice, and still getting little/no flavor but a chemical-ish taste. How long before the original (shipping) primer is gone and things start tasting good again?

Huh, it sounds like your cleaning technique was fine...so I'm hoping you'll start to get some flavor after a lil' more time - but you didn't mention the other side of the equation....what are you vaping?

EDIT: the 510 atty works different than the KR8 so some flavors that were pronounced before will be muted. And some will be enhanced - it's just a different animal. But I love the 510 TH and vapor.

I'm seeing a lot of hot water and boiling water recently for cleaning attys. Is there a new faq or 'how to' post. Water, while I know that some people do it, is not the best cleaner for atomizers and for cleaning primer fluid with a new atty esp. as little as possible should be done. Vape it first. If the taste is there, blow out it, then vape and if it's still there put some vodka on it - shake it up - blow out and dry and vape.

If you're still getting a taste it's either the juice or you're running out of juice vaping a dry atty - that will give you the worst nasty hit. Put some good juice on to the atomizer - 2 drops max, load up your cart and go. If you're getting a chemical taste it might be coming from your water.

Vaping my new Liberty blackberry @ 11mg. Got same result from the Liberty Lemon @ 11mgs. *sigh*

May just have to clean my 2nd atty and go for the doublemint

My thoughts:

Unless you filled the carts yourself with your own separate liquid, I wouldn't expect the flavor or vapor to be top notch. You should try buying your own quality e-liquid off the sites listed here. Sorry, I didn't take the time to read all the responses so I don't know if this has been covered.

Also, initially your going to taste the primer fluid that comes with the attys, so make sure you give plenty of timeto burn all that out, it shouldn't take too long.
