From what I understand (my knowledge base on this is a couple years old), a 510 is a small, cigarette-shaped and sized (about the length of a 100mm cig) with interchangeable batteries, atomizers (the burner), and you could use the one I bought a while ago with pre-filled cartridges, cartridges you could fill yourself with juice, or you could drip juice directly onto the atomizer. It's more of a model than a brand, lots of companies make 510-style parts. But I think the major drawback is that you're not going to be able to add a bigger thingamabob, which is what you're really going to want...

510 is also a thread pattern for threading batteries and atomizers together - it's a fairly common one, and all 510 pieces are interchangeable with others.

I tried them a while back, found the dripping and the self-filled cartridges too messy and the tiny batteries ineffective at giving me enough vapor to mimic smoking, and gave up. Came back to the vaping world a few weeks ago with an Ego, which is a bigger device with tanks you can fill with juice that last for hours or days depending on your use. Love it.

Your mileage may vary, and someone else may come in here soon to tidy up any points I've missed or misinterpreted. Good luck!

Ima want a bigger what? lol For now, I have been satisfied with the couple of disposable Blu's I've bought while waiting for the 'real' thing to arrive... I apparently don't have complicated needs just yet. I'm trying to keep everything as "cigarette-like" as possible until I'm sure I can leave analogs alone; that's why I haven't bought one of those great big setups I keep seeing.

Also, and this is only relevant when I go out, I don't want my gear to look like drug paraphernalia because I AM the one person that a cop would pull over and I'm already catching a little flak from family about vaping. Perceptions. *sigh*

^^Good info.

Some of the bigger "thingamabobs" are 510 threaded but don't work well on the small, thin 510 batteries. The 510 batts aren't powerful enough and don't last long.

Look into an "eGo" style battery. They are bigger, more powerful, and last longer per charge. Also, they have two sets of threads (eGo and 510) so they will accommodate various types of juice delivery devices, including the bigger "thingamabobs".

Look around here on ECF for battery threads and/or do internet searches for "eGo battery".

At some point you guys are going to have to tell me what a thingamabob refers to :)

I was referring to a clearomizer, which is what holds the e-liquid. There are many different types, sizes, capacities. Some have 510 threads, some have eGo threads. You screw the battery and clearomizer together and vape away. :vapor:

These are lovely little clearomizers for slim 510 batteries.

VISION Nano Clearomizer Bottom Coil 1ml 1.8ohm - CLEAR [gv-VisionNanoBottomCoil1.8-CLEAR] - $3.95 : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more

I think you can get them cheaper at different vendors. But I like them a lot better than cartomizers.

Ohhh, you are not my friend! Loooookit. lol

Oh well, I made a deal with myself that I can spend as much on vaping as I would have on analogs for a full 3 months. I'm nowhere near that yet so off I go.

I was referring to the battery...but the clearomizer could be a good point of reference too. I like the Egos because I feel that, while bigger than a normal cig, they're still small enough to pocket and carry around fairly inconspicuously. I actually saw a half dozen or more people vaping Egos at a town festival today, which was kind of cool.

These things look great - since you've already got the 510 kit on order I'd say to grab a couple, but don't spend too much because if you like the setup I still think you're going to end up disappointed power-wise and you'll want to move to an Ego, which will be like the same thing but big enough and with enough battery life to get you through the day.
