510 Passthough Question.

I just received my 510 passthrough and am wondering if it's supposed to work straight after being plugged in, or whether it needs to charge?

As it stands, I press the switch and the blue light begins to flash, but there's no sign of life at the atty end.

Unfortunately there were not instructions with it so I'm a bit in the dark over the way it should work.

If it has a battery in it it may have to charge some before use, but I would think that it would have been shipped with an 80% charge- making charging unnecessary. Are you plugged into a 2A power supply? Some computer usb ports just don't have the amperage even if the PT overrides the 500ma limiting built into the usb controller..

Woah!

Thanks, you got it in one!

I didnt realise the ports on my keyboard were a lower voltage. It's now working fine.

I use the Rosewill 4-port USB to AC adaptors at NewEgg. This is the US version and they also sell a travel version.
Newegg.com - Rosewill 2 Amp 4 Port USB Wall Charger RUC-6180 for iPhone/iPod/iPad/MP3

It has 2 amps available. Normal mini ecigarette batteries need 1/2 amp each to charge. A PT usually needs 1 amp. So you could charge 4 batteries on it (4 times 1/2 for a total of 2 amps used) or run one PT and charge 2 batteries (also for a total usage of 2 amps)

I usually look for the cable type battery-to-usb adapters because their slim plugs can fit next to each other in the Rosewill. I do have one short solid no-cable battery to USB adapter and I put that at one end (2 of those cannot fit next to each other).
