I want to get a passthrough for my 510. I was looking at pure smokers, it looked pretty heavy duty. Can someone please tell me what the best one would be? thanx in advance

This is not quite on topic but I have 510 passthru (USB). Not being an electronics nerd could someone please explain why it has what appears to be a battery in it?

I purchased two usb passthroughs from e-cig supply. They were a little pricey compared to others I've seen. They have been used every day for two weeks and they have performed without fail or bobble. They have a battery tha will run your cig for a claimed 3 hours with the usb power off.I have used this feature for an hour or so and it worked well. The battery may need to charge slightly before first use. These batteries are cheap and easy to find.No need to fire up the computer first thing just grab and vape it's great.

Take this with a grain of salt I am not a vaper but I am an electronics nerd.
Nearest I can tell the 510's work of of something like 3.6 volts. Your USB jack puts out 5. My guess is that it uses the battery as a filter (electronically a battery is kind of capacitor). This way your 510 gets the lower battery voltage not the higher 5 volts.

I will gladly retract this is someone who owns one knows different. It is just my guess at how they work.

Switch broke on my batt model passthrough this morning. Cut the wires at the switch. Measured 4.7v @ no load.
