I seem to be on this PCC kick and got me thinking, is the 510 PCC a smart pcc or not?

I went through batteries kinda quick and wondering if the pcc is draining batteries once they are fully charged since it might not be a smart pcc.

Anyone know?

I've seen it reported that on the last recharge that the internal batt can draw from the ecig batt. The way you know is when the middle light comes on the internal batt is in need of a charge. Only at that point would it draw from the ecig battery. At least that is my understanding. I've only seen the middle light come on once - I usually don't make it to the 5th or 6th battery charge before I can recharge the PCC. But I can imagine a case where it could of course.

My 510 PCC charges very quickly, maybe there is something wrong with yours Scamz.

I'm pretty sure they're smart chargers. Once a battery is fully charged in mine, all lights go off. Not even a green light or anything for a trickle charge.

One thing I have noticed is that if you have a battery in the PCC while charging the PCC, the battery won't charge.

I checked my PCC (that needed to be charged) just now and only the middle red light was on, which means the PCC needs to be recharged. There was a battery in it. So I took the battery out and put it in my wall charger and the wall charger didn't even turn red, indicating that the battery is fully charged from charging it with the PCC. So from what I gather...the PCC put the last of it's power in the battery and now the PCC needs to be charged.

The PCC did not drain power back out of the battery.

Hmmmm, USB is only going to allow you to charge one battery at a time (due to low milliamps) but why not put in a NAND gate and a diode to make it charge the e-cig first and internal battery second?

No NAND gate.... but when you plug the PCC into the USB charger and you have a battery in the PCC, they will both charge essentially "at the same time". But the PV battery won't become fully charged until the PCC battery gets close to being fully charged. They're both 3.7V batteries.

I just got my 510 today. Is this really true? That's very unfortunate, since the PCC is the only charger that came with it. Does this mean the only way to charge the batteries is to charge the PCC and then use it to charge the batteries?

Also, maybe I got a flaky battery or two, but I seem to kill the batteries quicker than I can charge them, which is pretty frustrating. I guess I'll order that 5-battery charger I saw somewhere.

Better to get a 5 pack of the mega batts but I got both :)

As far as the charging in the PCC, it isn't the case in my experience - you can charge both the ecig batt and the charger at the same time - sure it will take a bit longer but I've done it.

Oh yes, I ordered the 5 pack of batteries with the 510. Been using the 801 for a week now, so I know the basic drill by now :)

Of course, 5 batteries doesn't do a whole lot of good when the battery dies before the next one is charged... I've been flipping between two batteries all day today.

Oh well. I ordered the 5-way charger and a USB passthrough. That should do the trick.

Did you miss the 'mega' part on the 5 pack? If you're going through a mega before the next one is charged then you're going to have to go to a mod.

Oh. Heh. Yes, I did miss the "mega" bit. I'll see how it goes with the 5-way charger and passthrough... that might be good enough.

I was looking at some of the bigger battery options earlier today - some of them are interesting, but I'd rather not end up with a huge PV the size of a hot dog.

Sorry, but where do you get this 5-way charger? Also, what is a mega battery?

That's one of benefits of the mega - a bit longer, true but same diameter and 2x batt life before recharge. I've changed over totally at home. Still have reg. batts for going out because I like the smaller case that I have to carry them where the megas are just too long - I found a "custom fit" case for the 510 eariler. Case logic - the Widow sells them:
