Ok so I now the proud owner of a new 510 E-Cigarette, I wanted to share my observations, and ask a few questions. First my thoughts on the 510: I am quite impressed with the amount of vapor, and the "throat hit". I also now understand why most of you said that I would not care about it looking like a cigarette, cause your right, I don't it about the feel of smoking not the look. It feels great! I do believe I will be able to quit smoking with this!

The only "con" I have found so far with the 510, may not have anything to do with the 510 itself, is the taste of the tobacco flavor carts that came with it, they have a bit of a burnt taste to them, and don't really taste like a marlboro. I plan to use other flavorings, so hopefully this will not be an issue, or is there something wrong with the unit that it tastes kind of burnt?

First question I have: My parents bought this kit as a present for me (and one each for themselves) while shopping in Florida. The kits are not as complete as the ones that I have seen on Nhaler, Vapor station, and others. These kits included: 1 Auto battery, 1 atomizer, two carts, and 1 usb charger. It is my understanding that atomizers and batteries do not last long?

As my parents got the ball rolling, I am going to return the favor by making all three kits complete! My thought right now would be to buy one starter kit $47.00 plus 1 extra atomizer, 1 extra battery, and 3 usb passthroughs, is that the best way to go? I seem to like this auto battery I have now, are the manuals better?

I am also a little confused on refilling, if I have a tobacco, or menthol cart, can I use creme soda or coffee to refill it, or is the flavor gonna transfer over. Should I buy blank carts?

I saw the video for filling, what is the best type of "fill" to use, it looked like pillow stuffing? Is that safe, if it hits the atomizer could it put off a toxic burn?

I really hate to sound like a total NEWB........but I am, thank you very much for your patience and understanding, I think I am going to like this community!

Alright, here's a few things!

When atomizers are new, you will have that burnt taste until you break them in. This is because of the primer that comes on them. Before you use the atomizer, put your mouth on the thread end, and blow. You will see a noticeable amount of liquid come out (do this on a napkin or whatever.)

If you are at home, you may want to drip! This is where you just drip a few drops on the atomizer itself, then use a totally blank cart (no filler). This is my preferred method. When a cart goes dry, I suggest taking it out, washing it, drying it, then reinserting it before filling it with a different flavor. You also may want to look into the very many different fillers people suggest on this forum, it's amazing. There's many better alternatives than the regular filler that comes in carts.

This is just a personal preference, but I like manual batteries much more than the automatics. They never go off because of sound or vibrations, and you don't need a "primer puff". Just hold down the button and go!

It's also good to stock on up a few extra atomizers and batteries. (More than just two) because these last a mere few weeks to a month.

Happy Vaping! Just PM me if you have any other questions

Not sure what RedRamen means about batteries going out in 3 weeks. The main consideration in having extra batt's is so that you always have a charged power source so you can keep on 'vapin'. :)

USB passthru is a good suggestion, as was the rest of his post.

I bought 5 extra atty's, and have different flavors on each of my atty's. That way I can just switch up at any time.

I didn't get any pre-filled carts, but I have switched flavors on the same atty. I just drip a drop or two directly on the atty, and the flavor transition goes well after a few puffs.

If your parents are together, maybe a 5 stick charger from totally wicked would work well for them. I have one, and my batts are "all" always charged.

Definitely invest in some juice. My favorite sources so far are DIYFlavorShack and Ms. T's... Juice is very personalized, everyone seems to like something different, but a lot of peeps here, recommend these two sources.

Good luck in your efforts!

I started with a "smoking Everywhere" setup. 150 bucks...now have a mega titan setup from totally wicked...10XS BETTER! Im seeing strictlyejuice.com doing these L2 brand 510s for a good price right now, but not sure if interchangable with my titan. We'll see. Ideally, have 2-3 batteries, same attys, a usb passthrough, 10 cartridges, a pair of tweezers, plenty of juice, and some 3ml dropper bottles for on the go. Then build up stock. a good smoker wil probably use 1-2 ml/day in juice..so stock up, and expect them all to be different. Try the small samplers till ya find one ya like. They relate just like the analogs in the marketplace. Every one different. I smoked ultra lights, but smoke 24mg juice..18 for the chain smoking for flavor juice after meals whatnot. Just try not to mix flavors in the atty. If switching, blow out the atty. A drop or two is a good prime on clean atty for a new flavor. Thats my 2 cents:)

I can`t stand the pre filled carts. They should say crap on them not Marlbro that's for sure. Get them rinsed out and filled with your own juice. I also use the blue foam mod. Love it. You use more of the juice with them and are less likely to get the burnt taste if you check them now and then till you have an idea how fast you use them up.
For sure more batteries and atomizers maybe a pcc to carry and keep you going on the go. Pretty much what I got and very happy.

One more thing mine came with a manual battery. I wouldn`t have it any other way now.

Manual batteries are WAYYY better. You can get more vapor and throat hit and stronger flavor. you will get so used to the manual batteries you wont want autos again. Atomizers on average last 2-4 weeks so i would get a couple of those.

Totally wicked has some really good atomizers that come in a 5 pack and are 8 dollars per atty. these atomizers are kind of stubborn to get started so it takes about 2 days to get them vaping strong but once you do, they will last easily twice as long as any other atty. I swear by it that these atomizers are worth it.

You can also get atts and batts at rockymountainvapor.com for really cheap

Batteries last far longer than atomizers. Typically, a battery is good for about 150 charges (although frequently advertised as more).

Some suppliers have 5 packs of atomizers available at reduced pricing. That's a good way to go.

Passthroughs are good for some and not so much for others. If you spend a lot of time at a computer, then by all means, go for it. Otherwise, you will find the PT sits unused in a drawer somewhere.

Personally, I am fine with Auto Batteries. I like the hands-free vaping ... Especially if I am using the flat-tip carts which make the hands-free vaping easier.

There's a learning curve to e-cigs. Just keep reading and vaping and you will find what is right for you.

Welcome to the Forum and enjoy your vaping journey !!

Many people's batteries will "die" completely after a month or so... Much like an atomizer will die.

I guess one cannot edit their posts here... Correct me if I am wrong on that.

But the battery's overall life will depend on the user. Heavy vapers may charge their battery up to 4 times a day (I know I do).

While others may only charge it twice...

So my previous statement of 3 weeks was off, I meant to say around 6 weeks....

If a typical battery lasts 150 charges or so, that's 38-50 days. So around a month, to two months.

Knock on wood.. many months under the bridge and I haven't had a 510 battery "die" yet.

Still running the two that came with my first "no box" kit.. along with the second two that came with the second kit.

None of my Megas (I have 7) have died either.. although 5 of them are only about a week old.

I don't use a PT or any other mod.. so my batteries get a lot of use.

You can get a no-box kit from cignot.com for $35...They have great service and quick shipping.

I also wanted to add that not all e-juice is created equal...you will have to find the brands and flavors that you enjoy...I could rave about a certain juice that you absolutely can't stand...its all about perspective and personal preference.

When I started using my 510 a little over a month ago, I swore I wouldn't want the 'fruity' tastes, and just wanted the tobacco flavors...I just ordered a decent order of strawberry cheesecake, butterfinger and Caramel Apple!!! LOL 8-o

You have a ton of choices right now...so get a few atty's, a couple batteries (the true shortcoming of the Joye510) and pick up some juices that you might enjoy, and maybe get a small bottle of a juice you 'might' like, something totally different from where you think you would like to be.

One of my favorite juices right now is the EcoPure English Toffee...and I have two e-cigs going right now at work (one with the English Toffee and one with RY4).

If you don't like something, you can always get something different, and welcome to the wide world of vaping!

None of my 510 batteries or attys have died and I've been using them heavily since September. I did just buy the mega 510 batteries from totally wicked during their sale ... and 1 battery will last me a whole day without recharging!

I've only had one battery die within a month and a half. The rest of them are still going strong! I hope to keep mine that way.
