I really love the 901 atty. But it's a pain. There's that little hole in the side of it and juice will wait till you're not watching ti come out and next thing you know you're wiping juice off of everything. The drip shields do help but I had to keep widening my holes in it. My main problem is I can't keep a 901 atty alive for more than a few days. All of them I've used have just up and died. They didn't pop or give any warning and I kept them soaked. One draw, pure bliss, then the next.. nothing.. dead.

The shield is to catch the drops that leak out the side of the 901.. it does a good job. I don't know anything about Empire devices. All my stuff is 510 because that's what most cartos and attys are.

I use 901's on my 510 threaded devices on an adapter all the time and it works great. I think 901's give better flavor and great vapor production. I've been buying mine in bulk from Vapor Kings and the 901's are really inexpensive. I've only had a problem with leaking if I over drip and have never felt the need for a drip shield.

The drip shield is there to keep from making a mess, not to "feed" the atomizer. It is a drip shield not a drip reservoir. If you add so much juice your drip shield is acting like a tank you will have a very flooded atty that will perform poorly. I use 901 attys primarily on 808 batteries and for a long time didn't bother with a drip shield. They do work fine on a 510 to 901 adapter but 510 atty work great by themselves on 510 devices as do 306 attys.

The drip shield may not technically "feed" the atty but if you over drip and it comes out the side of the atty into the shield, you can vape the atty and then when it needs dripping again, you can give a dry pull to suck the juice back through the hole in the atty. So for me, it does kinda act like a feeder. maybe. sorta. Not saying you can really over drip and flood the atty, but it does catch what comes out and after awhile, enough has collected to suck back in.. sorta like a freebie LOL
