i have a 510 and just got my 801 atty and a 901 atty today as well as the adapters so they can fit on the 510 bartelby mod i have.
atm i really like the 801 over the 510 or 901
the 801 has a great TH and awesome vapor production also i am getting great flavor
i personally would rate the 901 below the the 510 but i do get good flavor from it.
so as for me
i like the 801 best as far TH , flavor and amount of juice it holds
then the 510 great vapor good TH but not so much flavor
and finally the 901 ok vapor, mild TH, but good flavor
but this is just my $0.02

I have a KD808d-1 and love it, but I would like to try something else. I can't decide on the 510 or the DSE 901. any advice.??

Suggest a manual batt either way. 150mAh on the 510 and 180mAh on the 901 but it's cheaper for you to just get an adapter (however some have gotten one's that don't hook up right so you might have to research that) - try altsmokes and heaven gifts or perhaps V4L. That way you could get both the 901 and 510 attys for about $10 and try them both.

With the attys, it's all about ohms. 510 runs hotter - more vapor, more flavor on strong flavors, subdues the lighter flavors and the metal mesh base on the 510 is good for dripping, and TH.

The 901 is a cooler vape, brings out the fruits and berries but imo, and experience, doesn't do justice to the tobacco, coffee, capp., cigar, french pipe - ie. stronger flavors where they come alive (with TH) on the 510. Both can use the 901 carts. They fit the 510 better than the 510 fits the 901, but it'll work as well.

More mods are in the 510 but most can be gotten with the 901 and 801 connection as well. If you don't like them you wouldn't have a hard time in selling either of them in the classifieds.

Personally I always thought the 510 was just a bunch of hype. I've been using 901's since early on. But last week I decided to order a couple 510 atomizers for my 6v mod and I have to say I think I'm enjoying a lot more than the 901. It's different I will say that. The vapor production IS greater. The vapor seems a little warmer, and personally I for some reason am starting to actually not like the way juice tastes in my 901. Hm...Either way I was satisfied when I first go the 901, and satisfied when I first got the 510.

Mayber order one of each and get a 901 to 510 or 901 to 510 adapter, and just try them both out?

Quick off topic question. I know how to tell the difference between true 901's and RN's but how do you tell between a true Joy-e 510 and a clone?

Tony,

You're not the first 901 user that found they can appreciate the 510. :) Hey, I'm enjoying some caramel mocha frap. carto on my 5V Bartleby. I like some variety but for everyday vapor and flavor in my stronger ejuices the 14500/510 combo is the best one yet. And that may change. I pledge alligiance to performance not a manufacturer or vendor. I do note those that do perform and those who sell those that perform though ;-) That is what people (including me) come here to find out. And performance can be subjective but if it's only that, then it doesn't sell no matter how much hype. The objectivity is in the ohms in the attys and the voltage and mAh in the batts and in some cases how they hold peak voltage and how long.

So far, the most notable difference in the Joye and the clones is twofold. The clone battery buttons are sticking and/or falling off and the atomizers are the 'washer type' where at the base around the bridge, there is no or little metal mesh - causing, imo, the reported 'nasty taste no matter what you do' - ie the coil isn't staying wet, and with the joye, the metal mesh base goes around the bridge and connected into the metal mesh on the bridge holding ejuice so less chance of the coil drying out.

There are more clones than this one on the market (although that seems to be the most common one), but one sort is easy to tell apart: Look here. It's actually the last photo on the page that shows the easiest-to-spot difference.

A reputable vendor that clearly labels the atties as "Joye 510" is your best option, or stick with one of the well-known rebranded ones, Janty coming to mind first and foremost, that's the Janty Dura, then one US company calls them Yeti, the TW Titan is Joye, too.
