For it to work the same as a battery at 5 volts you would have to draw 3 amps from your USB port. Not going to happen, your limiting factor is your computer or power source itself.

The whole point of the battery in-line passthroughs was to act as a buffer/capacitor to make up for the limitation of the USB power supply. To remove the battery to try and get 5 volts is a step in the wrong direction.

You would need to know the power output of your USB ports on your computer, but 99% of them will not put out enough current, USB ports were never designed as high power power source. It is not necessarily plug and play. You could possibly find a USB output wall adaptor that puts out better than 3 amps, which would provide you with the full potential of 5 volt vaping.

Yup!

meh...

The intent of the in line batt was two fold:

  • protect the PC USB port, as you were vaping from the batt and not the USB port, preventing an over current situation; and
  • recharge the 10440 while you were vaping at the PC. The PT was a plus in the days of standard batts of 180mAh or so. It's days are numbered

so r u saying that their not that useful?

What CS is stating.

Unless you are plugged into the wall, you are not going to get 5V vaping out of a PT, direct or otherwise. Where they are useful is watching the tube, if plugged into the wall :D or at your PC, once again if you are plugged into the wall or a USB hub capable of producing 2A or better. They exist but they are hard to find. As previously stated, the PT will become extinct before long...

I had seen that post some time back. However, can some one explain what A L I ' I stands for or Ali'i??? Thanks in advance.

Ali'i

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jump to: navigation, search
Aliʻi is a word in the Polynesian language denoting chiefly status[1] in Hawai'i and the Samoa Islands. A similar word with the same concept is found in other Polynesiann societies. In the Cook Islands, an ariki is a high chief and the House of Ariki is a parliamentary house (with very limited power). In New Zealand a Māori ariki held a rank of nobility and the Maori monarch held the title Te Arikinui (Great Chief) similar to Ke Aliʻi Nui in Hawaiian. In Tokelau, the term aliki denotes a chief, on Easter Island a noble was ariki and in Tahiti the term is ari'i.
In Samoa, ali'i is a chiefly rank in the fa'amatai system which lies at the heart of the culture's socio-political organisation[2] and similar to the traditional system in Hawai'i.
