Hi Angie,
I have the mini and was having issues. Got a lot of helpful info from Vape Miser on Youtube. Especially this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOK2T-YE8ss
Vaping has been much better after applying. Best of luck!

Watched the video. I do all the things he suggested. I'm only vaping 2 ml a day so would of thought it would last a bit longer. Maybe the coils are dud or I'm just expecting to much from them ?

First, make sure they are the genuine aspire ones with the scratch and check code. And, even if they are genuine, I only get about 5-7 days at 3-4ml a day with them unless im running a super clear single juice where I might get 7-10 days.

Angie, what kind of juice flavor are your running? I find darker/sweeter juices tend to gunk the BVCs fairly quickly (and burn very quickly, if I'm not patient) High VG juice might also be a "gunker"

I just pulled my Nauti out (hadn't used it for a few months), and I forgot how nice it was (especially with a FRESH coil :D ) I may break back out the full-sized ones too!

Cheers!

I use a variety of juice mainly vampire vape, T-juice and space jam. Most are 60/40 and 80/20. I vape at 4.5 v. I read on another forum to blow down while firing and it seems to build the vaccum back up for a while. They do have the scratch codes on the boxes. Sometimes I can get 2 weeks out of a coil. Maybe it's just bad luck with some coils as they are mass produced.

What nic mg strength do you use Angie, since as you go up in voltage you might find the vapour gets stronger. There are new coils on the market now which have larger juice holes to the older type and many have experienced flooding/gurgling issues with them. Check to see if you have the new type by comparing with an older one if you still have any knocking about.

The new heads need a bit more power and airflow and then they work well. Unfortunately, the old design better suits the mouth to lung type inhale and the new, direct lung inhale. There is a good thread you might want to take a look at on this very same subject.

Even as a lurker, before I became a member of this forum, I read many reports from folks about the limited or short amount of time and useful performance they are getting from their BVCs. I get weeks of use from my Aspire coils; in fact about the only time that I've replaced my coils is when I've accidentally caused a dry hit that resulted in permanent burnt flavour from the wicking. I vape most of my e-liquids at 8.5 to 12 watts on 1.8 or 1.6 Ohm coils, in an Aspire Nautilus mini, sitting atop a Sigelei Mini 30 watt. My e-liquids are purchased from 12 or fourteen different vendors including ECV, Suicide Bunny, DSC, Flavour Crafters, Halo, Maple Leaf Vapes, Seven Rooks, Alien Visions, Five Pawns...etc. PG/VG is generally 60 or 70/40 or 30, but I do vape liquids as high as 80% VG. The only common element between all my juices is the nic content, 18mg. Historically, I vape three to four ml per day. I have two Nautilus Minis that I rotate regularly - every couple of days; I'll vape on one a wash and clean the other. When I clean the tank system I use only very hot water and I also rinse out the coil; occasionally I'll scrub the tank's subassemblies with soap and water, using a small toothbrush. I then lay the pieces aside on a hot air vent to air dry for at least 24 hours. If I've used a particularly strong juice flavour, I might give the coil a vodka soak for a couple of hours - that's it.

Don't misunderstand my comment. I'm not bragging, but I am confused why some people have such bad luck with their coils. I thought that maybe the performance of my coils was degrading slowly without me realising it, but on those rare occasions that I do change a coil, the flavour, throat hit and vapor from the new coil are the same as my well used coils. Weird or what? Have others had this experience?

I only seem to be getting around 6 days with these coils I use 2 mls a day with my mini nautilus. They start to gurgle and just not work properly. Would of thought they would last a bit longer as they are quite expensive. Anyone else have the same problem ?

Nope ..... I grabbed a RDA and my 10c coils last about 3 months.

    6 days @2ml a day is a poor return.

I averaged 2 weeks, but am phasing out BVCs.

With the Subtank, I'm taking the coil out after 10 days, good or not. I can afford 25p a day.

    What are the symptoms?

4.5v seems about right to me, maybe a couple of notches under what I would use. They do like the power, they really do. :)

I read here recently that it is not recommended to wash the coils with water, Aspire is now including a card with instructions in each blister pack, not that they have anything new to tell us really but regarding the new cotton version (soon to grace our local vape shops) dry burning and water rinses will be out of the question.

An rda really is the best solution to these expensive coils, but then again I have maybe bought 3 packs of 5 since last August because I like to rewick/coil my own!

That little card doesn't mention anything about not washing the coils with water. It says that you should never let the tank get completely empty or you will burn the wick, and you should always let the juice soak in well when you put in a new coil.

I remember hearing or reading about a similar warning, however, I've never seen this "card." It's bit too small for me to read. Are you able to repost it slightly larger? None of my coil packages contain this warning and I checked on the Aspire website and couldn't find any info. I have to wonder about the reason behind the warning. The coil and wicking material are constantly immersed in a PG/VG solution that becomes superheated and that's OK, but a simple water rinse is bad? And yes, I know to never dry burn Aspire BVCs.

BTW, I have a Kayfun V4 coming my way, so soon I'll be rebuilding my own coils as well :2cool:
