I've read a whole lot, 6 months of reading. So far I am still using carto tank on ego batteries & even graduated to an ego twist. My 30/70 VG juices I bought are weak tasting. I still smoke my home rolled cigs cuz I have a problem with the ejuices. I going to try adding additives to my juices, then make my own. I haven't graduated from ego's cuz I am not sure what to graduate to.

The most common reason for finding vaping unsatisfying is that there is not enough nicotine in the juice. What are you currently vaping and how much nicotine is in it?

DIY is a steep learning curve but very rewarding since you can design the flavour how you want. Just be careful as the most common mistake is adding too much flavour.

Different people look for different things - some like a lot of flavour, some like a big throat hit, and others like big clouds of vapour. I like a good bit of all of the above, but I've had to tone the flavour down a bit since I got my sense of taste back.

I can actually recommend menthol as a good vape even if you never smoked it. It makes a good vape and is pretty hard to get wrong.

Be aware that a lot of juice vendors will let you get double flavour shots if you like strong flavours, but do try the normal flavour first before you decide. Nothing worse than a juice that is too strong as it tastes like an accident in a chemical factory.

A twist is fine for most things, but you might want to look at the Innokin MVP 2 as it's a very useful vv/vw device that is still very small and portable. The Innokin VV V3 also rates a mention as a small device with excellent features. If you want a more usual tube mode then the Vamo, SVD and Zmax are all worth looking at for various reasons however with these you will also need to buy batteries and a charger.

The current flavour of the month for clearomisers is the BCC devices like the Protank 2, mini Protank 2, the T3S, Evod, etc and quite a few copies/clones/similar devices.

I have the MVP2 and I love it. I started with a couple of Vision Spinners and still use them for when I am out and about. The MVP2 will eventually die like the ego batteries, but for the price and ease of use and 2600mah battery you can't beat it.

Congratulations on 6 months in. You may need to play around with your juice by way of flavor or nic strength to ease cravings. Sometimes just changing things up is enough to get over a hump.

First off there is nothing wrong with keeping it simple, there are quite a few on these forums including myself who use the ego batteries and like them. Having said that moving on to "bigger and better" when you're ready is also a good step just do some research on whatever mod you decide on to find out any problems that may arise. The MVP2 mentioned I have heard good things about so is a good option if you are ready to make the step up.
Secondly high vg juices are prone to having a muted taste as vg does not accept the flavoring as well as pg. As you are still smoking as well your taste buds may still be somewhat deadened so adding extra flavor is often the way to go. I went to diy so I could mix simple flavorings to get what tasted good to me as well as play with nicotine strength. You didn't mention what strength nic you're using but as others have mentioned you may have to have higher nic liquids around for when those cravings get extra strong.
It is possible that the juice isn't quite doing it for you because it isn't just the nicotine you are addicted to but some of the other components in cigarettes that are also addictive. You might want to check out the subforum on smokeless tobacco or twa liquids http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...wta-discussion-thread-all-topics-welcome.html such as discussed in this thread to get away from burning cigarettes but still get an extra boost.
Hope this helps and good luck to you.

Dang, didn't know we celebrated 6 month b.days in the vaping world, I missed mine!!! lol. I started with cig-a-likes, then ego's and a PT, and then Provari, got a few rba's, and started DIY juice. Pretty simple with a few basic lab ware pieces and a good juice calculator. Step on over to the DIY juice section of the forum and check it out. I also received a excellent Kcigar Nemesis 2 tone clone and a kick 2, a few days ago. And come to think of it, it was on my 6 month vaping anniversary. So I guess I did celebrate after all Woo Whoo, another justifiable excuse for my purchase. lmao

There is lots to learn in this forum. Take advantage of it. If you are into vaping, and feel you will continue even after you are able to quit smoking entirely, then take a look at the regulated variable voltage and wattage devices available. Pick something well built and will last. Do a lot of research, check out the reviews and comparisons, and choose the device that fits your needs and makes sense to you.

Good luck and congrats on 6 months of vaping.

ejuice is 24mg. I just received flavorings I ordered from One On One Flavorings so I can experiment. I also have liquid sugar.
I have rolled my own cigs for most of my life.
I liked Honey Dew & Almond joy juice when I got it but it is weak tasting. I've read that an APV would make the ejuice taste better, but not sure what to get

That's only because a variable voltage (vv) device will let you optimise your vape for whatevr device you have on it and the type of juice that you are using. A more expensive won't do anything you can't do already with your twist, though it might make it easier. If I somehow lost all my APVs I could get along just fine with my twists and nothing else.

Much more important are the devices you are putting the liquid in. You can try dripping, or bottom coil devices. CE4/stardust devices are simple and supplied with a lot of starter kits but they are known for their muted flavour and other limitations. If you're currently using the CE4 or CE5 I'd probably recommend you try something like the Evod or T3S on the twist batteries.

The 24 ejuice may be not quite strong enough as your used to rolling your own you could try to step up to 30 or 36 for a bit to see if that helps just don't over do it at first til you see whether its too strong or not.
Playing with the flavorings can be fun but start out with small batches so there's not much waste and add flavoring a little at a time as too much flavoring can actually dull the taste or so I've been told.
A variable voltage/wattage device can indeed improve the flavor as each flavoring seems to have its own sweet spot as far as how much heat is applied. The MVP2 or the Vamo 2,3,5 seem to be popular choices for vv vw APV's and both kits are relatively inexpensive.
Good luck to you and have fun with your diy.
