:confused::confused::confused:So Vicious Ant decided to throw his hat in the ring. For this price, this mod had better be delivered by a golden unicorn riding a diamond studded blue whale. The vapor better make me solve equations like Matt Damon in Good Will Hunting. For...... Realz.....

Chipotle.
For $700 I really didn't expect this

*Battery NOT Included*
I was just looking at that, then it dawned on me that we weren't talking about a simple 18650 either...not only do you have to spend $700 but after you do so you need to install a LiPo pack that your source and purchse in the thing yourself?! Someone go get me some of what they're smoking over there.

Edit: Double shock, the recommend battery packs they have linked are only 1000mah!?!?! WHAT!? 250W capable and 1000mah battery you've got to be joking!

Can't help but notice their recommended batteries are all 2S batteries as well. You probably need a 3S for utilizing the full potential. Which means sacrificing more capacity to fit an additional cell in there. Wondering what kind of connector it uses. Or if they expect you to solder your own brand new $700 mod. (Edit: Odd... most of the batteries linked use XT60 connectors, while on of them use JST. I'm guessing it's a solder job, then.)

Edit 2: I see now it comes with 2x extra Micro Deans. Cut'n solder it is.

... ... ...

Disclaimer: This is an ADVANCED DEVICE. You need to know how to install the Lithium Polymer battery in correctly. THERE IS NO REFUND/RETURNS ON THIS PRODUCT.

yup, solder yourself

beware of the rhino lipos. it's been a while, but last i heard, they're not exactly stellar performers.

you'll also need a balancing "hobby charger" instead of the typical cylindrical cell chargers we use... and a li-po sac. i assume that's why "2 extra" micro deans. one for the battery, one for the charger. you'll need male 4mm bullet connectors and noodle wire for most chargers also.

250 watts @30 amps = 8.3333V

so you could get the full potential out of a fully charged 2s pack. that would drop drastically and quickly, though.

how do you not know about the VariAnt by now?

this price is par for the course

Never heard of the $700 titanium slim version.

Not that it matters in any way... I just find it a bit amusing that they link to $5-6 Lipos at HobbyKing for use in their $700 mod. It's the Fasttech of the RC world.

Was wondering about the charging part. It does says on the site it will turn off after charging is complete. So I guess there's a charging circuit in there. Next question would be: Does it balance charge?

And they suggest you order RC Lipo. They even have links to hobby king for krissakes.

For $700, that is nothing short of pathetic.

First off, for 7 bones you can put the battery in for me, and you can replace it for free for the next 2 years too.
Second, Hobby King RC Lipo?? Seriously? Let's take the most unstable and dangerous battery chemistry, hold it in our mouths, then near short it with resistance wire! Sound smart?

The guys on the endless sphere board would have a hey-day with this one...
