So i can avoid federal regs by assembling my own AR-15's by purchasing 80% weapons which is essentially parts that are everything but the main mechanisms then you purchase the other 20% separately and it is 100% legal.... What are the odds of making this a thing with vaping products... if it is only 80% of a mod will it be legal if i just buy the buttons or battery door separatey? how about atty's maybe buy the deck separate from everything else?

Thoughs comments concerns, this isnt about my purchase or assembly of firearms so please keep this on vaping just using it as an example.

Yes, ..sorta...but not like that.

Thats not how it works with firearms.
With firearms, you can buy the frame 80% complete ( which doesn't require registration because its not a gun).

You must use milling equipment to finish last 20% of the manufacturing work.
Then you buy the other parts and you have a complete legal-ish firearm.
Some states require you to then apply for an ATF number in order to sell the firearm.

So yeah, you could legally buy a flashlight and finish it out to make a mod..lol.

Buy two or three good mech mods and you won't have to worry about the future. There is nothing really to break unless you are frequently involved in situations involving enemies with RPG's or M134 Mini guns. I live an action hero lifestyle but even I haven't lost a mech mod yet. Actually, that isn't true. I lost one but lost it lost it during a HALO jump but that's only because I forgot to close the flap on my suit. I tell ya, a Super T Workhorse dropped from 15,000 feet will go right through a cow like it was a rail gun. I felt bad. The cow was wearing a hat. I think there was supposed to be a dairy festival the next day.

Most likley clone velcro from fastech.

When/if the regulations go into full effect you'll be able to buy anything not deemed a tobacco product, now dig through & try to understand the FDA list of what a tobacco product is/will be, good luck.
And, if you assemble pieces you may be a manufacturer, fda is fairly unclear if that definition is for personal use or retail, good luck figuring out anything consistent / rational in the regs...

"Manufacturer" would be for resale only.
No one is coming to inspect your gear.
No regulatory enforcement agency is trained in recognizing a modified e cig.

Lets stay in the real world.
