Big difference in TH and flavour between the two models. Resistance is only one variable in the equation. 510 has better TH but less flavour than the 901. Because of coil placement and barrel length, the vapor from the 510 is hotter when it gets to the mouth also.
I have never tried a 901 atomizer, but I would have to think of all the variables, resistance must account for at least 90% of the differences. But your comment makes me wonder how the coil placement is different. I got some SLB 510 atomizers, which have pretty much the same resistance as the 901 atomizer, and the difference between the SLB atomizers and my regular 510 atomizers was like how people describe the experience of using a 901 atomizer.

How long are those slb attys lasting you at 5 volts brandon?

I've got one here that I've been using and abusing for about 2 months now. I've literally been trying to kill it and it keeps going.

Its been through a dozen dry burns, 10 second power drags, you name it. As long as I clean it with some Everclear everyonce in a while it works like new.

I also like the BE901s, they're not as prone to leaking and they're about the same vapor, flavor, TH as the SLB.

I think resistance is THE variable in the equation.
Same battery with less resistance ==> hotter
Hotter atty ==> more TH and less flavour.
Hotter atty ==> hotter vapor.

510s tend to run in the 2.2 - 2.5 ohm range
901s tend to run right about 3.0 ohms

Well folks, I've been messin' around with the big three (510, kr8, and 901) for a few months. I was a 901 fan to start with but wanted to see if there was a good reason to be.
I also wanted to use cartos for driving.
The most flavorful billowing cloud of vapor I've gotten to date is with a 5.2 ohm 901 atty on a 6V mod. I've got HV 510 attys, LR 510 attys, 510 cartos and kr808 cartos and none of them come close to the HV 901 at 6V IMO.

I think so too. 801's are even higher, somewhere around 3.5 ohm and they they give very cool vapor with little TH.

At least you've had luck with the 5.2 ohm attys. I had a couple and they were junk. They tasted burnt no matter what.

Really? Where'd you get them? I buy the SLBs from Ikenvape and have had nothin' BUT luck. They taste really good, not even a primer to start and I've only burnt out one after more than 9 weeks of heavy use.
Are you using them with 2 3V batts or 2 3.7V batts 'cuz I tried them with a couple ICR123, 3.7V batteries and it was too hot.

5.2 ohm HV 901

3v batter is going to deliver about 3.2v charged?
6.4V @ 5.2 ohms ==> 1.23 Amps and 7.87 Watts

Normal 3.7v batter is going to deliver about 4v charged?
Normal 510 atty at 2.2 ohms
4v @ 2.2 ohms ==> 1.82 Amps and 7.27 Watts

So you're getting about the same effect as a regular 3.7v mod with a 510 atty. Why bother with all the 6v and HV attys. More batteries, more expensive attys.

I got them at Ikenvape too. Thing tasted burnt no matter what, then it just popped for no reason. Sent it back, same thing... I said the hell with it and wrote it off as a loss.

Oh and Zelda, try Vaporspot.com they have BE901s for like 7 bucks a piece. They work great at 5 volts...
