901 with grande

I have the metal Reo grand, and I prefer to use a 901, but on the sheet u get with the Reo grand it states to use 901 and adapter at own risk. I do use the O ring trick right below the 901 hole and that works great. What is the danger of using the 901 and adapter?? The adapters and 901 I got from Nhaler.

The danger is that sometimes the insulator ring inside the adapter that keeps the positive and negative poles of the adapter from making contact sometimes fails. When the two poles make contact, it will cause a short circuit. This is bad for any mod. Of course, the exact same thing can and has happened with attys and cartos themselves.

I'm using a 901 on my Grand right now. I usually check the adapter for shorts with my multimeter before screwing it into my Grand.

Any adapter adds a whole extra piece of the puzzle thats prone to failure.

Some adapters are better quality than others but its hard to tell.
I don't buy adapters from anyone that sells them for a buck Thats for sure.

Nothing worse than a 20 cent piece shorting out your 100 dollar mod

Also according to Rob, you should attach the atty to the adapter and check it BEFORE screwing it into the mod.

Yep, I agree with that. When my adapter shorted my grand it looked fine. After I screwed the atty into the adapter the atty pushed the pin down and that was all she wrote.

When I first tried an adapter to use a 901 on my silver bullet, it crushed the pin and I had to have it rebuilt. Thankfully, Chad at altsmoke modified the adapter I had so that it fit my bullet. So now it is where it's gonna stay. I'm just concerned about getting the right adapter for the mini. Reos is currently out of stock on adapters so I'll just wait. I'd assume that if you get an adapter from the site where you buy your mod that it should fit. I'll be sure to test them as suggested before I attach them.
