Hey everyone,

I had tried one of the original E-cigs years ago from India. I never had much drive to quit, but my Mom, being a Respiratory Therapist, has been asking me to quit for years. I'm a 10 year smoker, starting at 14 and now one month shy from being 24. The E-cig seemed like the perfect solution to both my Mom's concerns and my lack of a desire to quit.

Well, it sucked. I had to take the biggest drags just to get anything. Battery life was terrible, and anything else that could go wrong, did. I went back to cigarettes for two more years.

My Mom and I did some research, and heard good things about another brand called Green Smoke. I have been using it for about three days now, and I enjoy it more than the first brand, but am not completely satisfied.

First, is there anywhere I can buy the cartridges from the store? Green smoke has their atomizer built into the cartridge with the nicotine, and the battery is completely separated. Would a tobacco shop have these available, or something like a Wal-Mart? Ordering online is an option, but I just ran out and don't have time to wait for my refills tomorrow.

Second, did I pick the wrong brand? I haven't seen anything mentioned here about Green Smoke. I've heard a hundred different names, but nothing about Green Smoke.

Third, would other brands cartridges/atomizers fit on to my Green Smoke battery? It seems to be the same size as the last brand of e-cig I tried.

Lastly, are there any cartridges out there that actually taste like a cigarette? The cartridges I bought with my Green Smoke are called Full Flavor and are supposed to resemble Marlboro Reds (my brand of choice) but don't taste anything like it. I don't mind it that much, I really just enjoy the feeling more than anything. It only starts to bother me as the cartridge starts to run out, then it tastes like a mix of salt water and frankincense. I also think it would work better if I could find a better flavor.

Thanks in advance for your responses. I really wish I found this community before I bought the Green Smoke, but searching for E-cig info is one of the hardest things I've ever had to google.

Hi and welcome to ECF!

I started with Green Smoke and the love lasted about a week. I spent more time recharging the batteries than actually using them. Luckily, I found this forum, got some great advice and support and ordered a Riva starter kit. I was a pack and a half per day smoker and I just went nine months smoke free yesterday.

Green Smoke was a D9 battery when I used them. I'm not sure if they've changed or not. They use what's called a cartomizer where the atomizer and cartridge are all in one and if they're still using the D9, then there won't be many places where you can buy replacements.

Finding something that actually tastes like a cigarette is impossible. Vaping is very different from smoking, so you're only replicating the look, feel and taste. Since e-cigs use juice and there isn't any tobacco, duplicating the taste isn't possible.

If you'd like suggestions for a better starter kit, tell us how much you smoked per day and we can offer some suggestions. At the very least, you'll end up saving some money with a different kit. Hopefully you're still in the 30 day period so you can send them back and get a refund.

Greensmoke is KR808D-2 aka E9, a Chinese wholesaler model, not compatible with the popular and well-supported KR808D-1

The only place I know that sells blank cartomizers for it is VaporKings.com in the US though you may find a Chinese retailer. And AZSMokeFree sells some stuff for it. These rebranders each supposedly have a rebranded KR808D-2
Smoke 51 Duo, Green Smoke, E9, LeCig D2, Red Dragon, Vapure

You will see Bloog on some lists but the current Bloog is KR808D-1, not KR808D-2
LeCig.com carries D1 to D2 and D2 to D1 adapters

Most people don't depend on prefilled cartridges. They use blanks and buy a bunch of eliquids until they find ones they like. And no, nothing will tast like, burning paper and leaves, tar, and 4000 chemicals and carcinogens. However it is possible to find elqiuid with aromas similar to fresh tobacco and other aromas found in cigarettes like Cocoa and Honey or Molasses

I'm not sure what type of batteries they have, they just have them listed as a "short" and "long battery.

I wasn't optimistic about the taste, just thought I'd ask. The feel is really what sells me on these, that's really what I crave most besides the nicotine. After a beer or a meal, I just need to feel a drag.

I smoked a little over a pack a day, depends on my activities, but that's about average. I am still in the 30 day period, so I should get most of my money back besides the restocking fee.

Beyond that, the one thing I really enjoyed about Green Smoke was the case they provided. It made it very easy to carry an extra battery and a few extra cartridges, so I'd like to order a kit that contains one of these as well. If not, I guess I could just keep the Green Smoke case. No big deal, I just remember losing my first e-cig on numerous occasions.

Oh, and thank you for your response WomanOfHeart

Wow, thanks for the info. I'm sure the info is on here somewhere, but is there a good tutorial for the liquid and blank cartridge setup? That seems like the way to go. Can you buy these liquids anywhere besides online?

I would forget trying to find anything that resembles analog cigs. Greensmoke is garbage and little batteries will keep you busy changing them. There are other issues but it's pointless to go into it. If you really enjoy smoking you will not get the same experience vaping. It will probably be better! So why try to make it look the same? If you have the money to invest in something that works, like a GreatLakes GLV ecig or some other unit, then go into this ecig hobby/habit as far as you can. Don't get into these kits designed to gradually groom you into this. I have found that the real joy in vaping is finding a good cartomizer or tank system and then a battery that can make it work to its potential. A good ejuice would be next but personal taste will keep you busy finding what you like. There's a plethora of good juices out and trying different blends and flavors is part of the game. The problem is finding a battery and cartomizer that works. Do you really need a stick battery that resembles a cigarette? I'm trying to save you some time and money. Everyone I know ends up replacing those stick batteries.

I think the best place for you to start is going to be theECF Library. There's a wealth of knowledge here, especially in "The Wonderful World of Vaping" and this will help you decide if a battery that looks like a cigarette is going to be the best choice for you. As a general rule, the smaller batteries have a smaller capacity, meaning they aren't going to last as long between charges. It all depends on how much you're using them.

I already enjoy vaping. I feel much better even after a few days of use, and it seems like a good alternative to cigarettes. I just need to find something that is easy to drag, and has a good battery life. That's all I'm really looking for ATM when it comes to e-cigs. I also would like to be able to buy my supplies from a store rather than waiting for an order to ship, but I can deal without that. I most definitely do not need it to look like a cigarette, that is something I can do without.

I feel like I'm using them a lot. I've gone through a cartomizer a day, at least. My battery life hasn't been much of a problem so far, but it's only been a few days. I'd like to get one that I know has a good battery life from the start. Like I said earlier, it really doesn't need to look like a cigarette.

Where are you located? There are a few shops around Mostly Philly area, from what I've heard.

I am currently living in West Chester PA, about 20-30 mins outside of Philadelphia. I'm from Upper Darby, which is about 2 mins outside of the city, so I'm very familiar the area.

Thank you, I had a tab open with those vendors and was planning on taking a look. I assumed they were all online vendors, so thanks for clarifying that.

After reading the tutorial, I think I'm sold on the Joye 510. Just a few questions though before I hop all over it.

Is this one a manual e-cig? I think I'd prefer that, as the last two e-cigs I've owned were automatic and had a very difficult draw. It's like sucking through an extremely thick milkshake, and I'm looking for something that as easy as a normal cigarette. I think the manual ones would make it easier.

If I'm using the juice to refill my cartridges, how many puffs can I expect after refilling my cartridge with 2-3 drops? Does each drag equal a whole regular cigarette in terms of nicotine, or can I puff it a bunch of times without fear?

Manual batteries are the best choice because they give you more control over how you vape and they're sealed, so you won't have to worry about juice getting into them and ruining the battery.

Since you aren't terribly concerned about the looks, I would suggest getting either an eGo or a Riva. These are bigger batteries and look more like cigars, but they'll last at least 6-8 hours between charges. The kits are very affordable, too. Liberty-Flights carries these kits and they also have a 20% discount code at the top of the page. Shipping is a flat $2.99 no what the size of the order, which is really nice. They ship quick and have great customer service. Take a look there.

The Joye 510 won't give you much more battery life than you are getting now, take a look at the Ego or Riva, same attys and cartos, but much better battery life. Also, Liberty flights has a great price if you use their 20% off coupon.
edit: I see WomanofHeart has already given you this info, I would listen if it were me...

Yes, you can buy them in manual, which is what most of the members prefer.....consider getting a 510-t kit.... I think you would be pleased with that. Altho the batteries only run around 2-4 hours(depending on how much you use them) they are slender like an alalog and the tank attys give great flavor and vapor.....if you need longer battery life between charges then look at an eGo type battery.... as far as what is equal to a cigarette, vaping is nothing like smoking. with vaping you just hit it a couple of times while with analogs you always feel like you have to smoke the whole thing.....also the nic is absorbed differently than with analogs.....with analogs you get a direct hit of nic into your lungs, with ejuice, you mostly absorb it thru your mouth, nose and throat. liken it to having a beer instead of a shot of whiskey........if you find something you are interested in post a link and let us have a look,,,,,they may also have discounts, you never know...

And Dario, if you have never smoke cigarettes then why are you here?

Hey everyone,

I had tried one of the original E-cigs years ago from India. I never had much drive to quit, but my Mom, being a Respiratory Therapist, has been asking me to quit for years. Hey Buddy, I'm the same age as you are and relatively new to vaping too- 2 days in.

I bought the 510 kit from madvapes.com (510 Kits) which has been fantastic. When buying kits online, they usually supply you with a starter juice but I don't think that those juices would be anyone's first choice. Also when buying juices, you'd want to mess around with the VG/PG levels to make sure that you are getting the "kick" that you are looking for. It doesn't necessarily have to do with the brand really, but more the levels of VG/PG (I think, but don't quote me on that).

Some helpful info copied from another thread--

Common Nicotine Levels:
NONE (Zero)
Extra Low: 6-8MG
Low: 10-12mg
Medium: 16-18mg
High: 24-26mg
Extra High: 36mg
For Mixing/Diluting Only: 48mg, 60mg

e-Liquid Nicotine Strength Recommendations:
Occasional Smoker: Zero to Low
Up to 1 pack/day: Low to Medium
Up to 2 packs/day: Medium to High
Over 2 packs/day: High to Extra High

Sometimes when picking juices, they ask you what your preferred strength level is (typically in percentages).

As far as stores around you that would be able to give you e-cigs, I don't know, but I am sure that some people in this thread would be able to suggest some helpful things for you. I personally don't know if there are any around me, but I did reach out for recommendations for buying my kit online before I reached a decision on making a purchase-- and it was the best thing I have done. No regrets.

Now only my 2nd day of vaping, and I am already thinking of investing in a Mod.

Good luck and don't be afraid to try some new juices/strengths- sometimes you need to experiment a little bit before you find something that works for you.

Last piece of advice- don't invest in something without getting some reviews or recommendations first, especially from ECF if you can-- there are a lot of "phony" e-cigs out there.

Again, good luck and welcome to ECF, we are glad to have you.

If you are looking for something with a longer battery life I would recommend a Riva 510 it is bigger and heavier then a real cig but the battery farrr better then a standard 510 battery. I am getting 8-12 hours out of my Riva batts depending on how heavy I use. It might also be mental but the vapor production feels better then my standard 510 batterys.

Anyways good luck with your search and welcome to ECF
