Hello fellow Vapers! Ive been in the vaping world since April, and I've learned quite a bit. But I was on and off because I could NOT find my E-Juice... ive had a little more luck lately, and im getting back into vaping.

Now rebuildables are starting to seem fun to me, and im starting to get a better grasp on how vaping works, and not just "YOU PRESS THIS BUTTON AND IT HEATS IT UP"

I've watched a bunch of tutorials on YouTube / read posts on here /etc and Ive learned so much. BUT after all this research and learning I have new questions now..... so here they are, hopefully some of the smarter people can help me out here :p

Batteries/Power:
I just ordered a VAMO V6, and I got an EFEST 18650 (1600mah) battery. How does the whole wattage/voltage thing work? From what I've learned, I should adjust by watts??? and the battery is only 3.7v so can that push out 20w?

RBA's:
~If I build an RDA, will I have to keep taking off the top and dripping onto the cotton directly? or can I drip thru the top? (Trident V2)
~I heard I should NOT vape nicotine on an RDA, like it will kill you o,o Is this true? or is it just stronger on an RDA?z
~whats the difference between Gages? like 32 and 28 gage canthol?
~can I use a lighter to burn the cantol? or do I NEED to use a torch?????
~whats the diffrence between Nichrome and Kanthol? are both safe for vaping use?
~what kind of wire does kanger use?

Power in equals power out, minus some losses due to inefficiency. Power is expressed in Watts and is equal to volts (V) times amps (A). 20W at 3.7V is 5.4A. Call it 6A with losses due to inefficiency. Your battery is easily capable of supplying that much current, so no problems.

When you put a low number of volts in and get a high number of volts out, that's known as a "boost." When you put a high number of volts in and get a low number of volts out, that's known as a "buck." Some circuits only do boost, and some only do buck. The Vamo does both (boost/buck).

You can drip through the top if you have a big enough drip tip. You might need to wait a while for the juice to spread around and get wicked up. It's easier if you pop the top off, so you can see exactly where the juice is going, and how damp the wick is.

This is cow manure. You might need less nic in a dripper because of the denser cloud to get the same hit you're used to. Maybe try half as much as you normally use (for example, 6mg if you currently vape 12mg).

~whats the difference between Gages? like 32 and 28 gage canthol?

Gauge is a measure of how many strands of wire you can pack into a given area. Lower gauge means fewer wires to fill the area, so lower gauge means fatter wires. Fatter wires have lower resistance. Doubling the number of wires is about the same as dropping the gauge by 3. For example, 2 strands of 30 gauge is about the same resistance as one strand of 27 gauge.

~can I use a lighter to burn the cantol? or do I NEED to use a torch?????

You can use a lighter. You just need to get the wire red hot.

~whats the diffrence between Nichrome and Kanthol? are both safe for vaping use?

Nichrome and Kanthol are different alloys with different resistances for a given gauge. Most people use Kanthol, but I don't believe there are any safety issues at the temperatures we vape at (significantly below the melting point of either metal).

~what kind of wire does kanger use?

A resistive Kanthal segment that's spot welded to two non-resistive legs. That way, the coil gets hot but the legs stay cool, which is good because the legs are right up against a silicone gasket.

All good info from PapaSloth but gauge is actually based off the number of dies used. Not sure it's still the same but wire was formed by forcing the alloy through increasingly smaller dies. The number of dies it would take became the gauge.

I stand corrected. Thanks!

Thanks so much for the help. ILY <3 :p

Could you explain what Die is?

It's these things:
Copy_2_of_AWD_Cover.jpg

Basically, thicker wire is drawn through those holes in the center, and thinner wire comes out the other side. Wire manufacturers repeat that process with smaller and smaller holes until the desired gauge is reached.
