I'm not new to vaping, but new to e-cigs. I have been intrigued about them for a while now and have been doing plenty of research online but the amount of info is almost overwhelming!

I am looking for a quality starter kit with everything i need to get started. Form factor is not an issue,i just want a good starting point to give myself a good indicator on how well e-cigs will work for me.

If things go well for me, my fiance will be joining in the fun as well.

Any recommendations on a good quality starter kit and the best website to order it from?

Thanks guys!

The ECF Library Annex has lots of reading for you, and the front page of the forum has a list of vendors, used and abused by the members of ECF. If they remain registered vendors, it means they have fair prices, and great customer service of they would get shredded here. We treat each other very nice, a crappy vendor, not so much. :)

Good starters are the 510 threaded ego / riva types or 808 threaded Volt types. Get one and try it, then you'll know what you want more of in vaping.....and the future possibilities are almost endless. Seems everyone here has their favorites and for a variety of reasons. vaping can be much more personally customized to your tastes than smoking...

If you want a cute short response theres two kits worht buying...The Joye 510, which are slim batteries that are about the size of cigarettes, and have a led light on the end. Or the eGo which are much bigger, last longer, give off more power, but looks kinda weird and does not have a led light..Both are 510 threading which is extremely universal and both are top rated models among new and experienced users...You can also you cartos, tanks, atties, etc for them as again the threading is all universal

stosh has given ya some good info...there is a wide variety of units out there and you can drive yourself crazy deciding on which is best...there is no answer to that question...the best, is the one that gets you to quit the funkarettes...I usually tell folks to get a 510 threaded device since it seem there are more options for them...the other common devices are those threaded for kr808 accessories(slim ciggy look alikes)...the 808 have poorer batt life in the 2-4hr range(continuous vaping)...I would recommend the eGo/Riva units from liberty-flights.com(6+hr batts) starting at 30bux and even better, from hoosierecigsupply.com, the KGO/E-Power units(10-12+-hr batt life) around 42bux...all 4 of these are 510 threaded with the eGo/Riva/KGO having proprietary batts that cost 12-20bux to replace...the E-Power has non- proprietary, drop in batts(like a flashlite) that cost 5-9bux to replace...there are MANY other vendors that carry these items as well and if you look at the Forum Suppliers list at the top of this page, you can find many of them...

You will also have to decide on atomizer(attys)/cartridge(carts) or cartomizer(cartos) or tanks as the means of delivering juice to the batt...each has pluses and minuses with my nod going to cartos for being less fiddly that the others...good luck and happy hunting.........

I won't even get started on juices...a zillion vendors selling a kazillion flavs....................

Thanks for the info guys! i've pretty much narrowed it down to an Ego but am up in the air on wether to get a tank model or a cartridge model. I love to tinker with electronics and am looking for the "easiest" and cheapest to refill. Now my fiance doesn't want to fiddle with anything, just wants it to work. So im thinking an ego tank for me and a regular Ego for her. Does this seem like a good plan?

You may find the reverse works better, ego tanks tend to be fiddley....
simple cartos (Boge brand, highly praised) and the least fiddley. :)

I got the Ego-T Type B Tank with 900 mAh battery. Ordered from Liberty-Flights (click the 20% off icon in the upper left) and had the kit within a week. This is the first and only one I have owned so my input may be limited.

I think I like the tanks, although having not tried anything else, I dont know any better. The tanks ARE fiddley as someone else said, and if you dont get it seated in the atomizer good enough, there will be leaking.

Overall, I love the ego I got. Battery life is good (lasts me all work day although I carry my extra just in case). I seem to be getting good flavour from the juices (possible from the kind of device, possible from the places I have ordered juice from). I like the on/off option it has as well

The eGo is only 3.2 volts. I would really look at the Riva (3.7v) line but madjack's suggestion of the E-Power 510 is even a better option. Same category/model as the Riva but the batteries only cost $4 - $5 instead of the $14 - $20 you will pay for the eGo/Riva batteries. Plus the batteries last 4 times longer:

Heyas,

Not a bad idea. Get one of each, you'll both have a whole kit, and you can each try the normal ego and the tank, see which one you like best. throw in a box or two of carto's at less than $10 for 5, and you'll have covered all your bases. I have an ego, and love it! However, many swear by the riva, so I'm sure it's a good unit.

So there is a local retailer Kits- vapor-stix.net that is within driving distance of me. Can someone take a look at their products for me and let me know if their stuff would be a good purchase or if i should just order online?

The prices look a bit high, but not outrageously so. Only other comment I'd make is that, if the pic of the ego is correct, I think it's a knockoff, not a genuine Joye ego. Looks like the band on the battery is gold, not silver. All the Joye ego's I've seen had chrome bands. But, I could be wrong. And, it could be a good quality knockoff.

On a side note, they have about the best prices on a carrying case I've seen so far at $9.43.

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up going with 3 Ego kits from myvaporstore.com one for me, one for my fiance, and one for my mother along with 6 10ml liquids in various flavours to test out. I went with the non-tank Ego and ordered a 5 pack of Smoktech dual coil cartos to try out.

Anything else i should order for now? I know I will need to order more batteries/cartos/liquid in the future to have spares on hand but im going to see how this goes before stocking up.

3 Ego kits will give you plenty of batteries and chargers, and 6 flavors is a good start, unless everybody decides there is only one for them and it's the same one for all...:)
The attys, cartos, tanks and what resistance for each will most likely differ for each vaper, and the only way to tell is to try one and see how you like it. I've read many glowing reviews and / or reviews panning an item, that I tried anyway, and totally disagree with the review. Vaping is very customizable, find what you like !! :)
