Two weeks into vaping, cigs reduced 90%, not looking back but a couple of issues. Thanks in advance for any assistance.

1. My brother lives with me and complains about the smell of the fruity fluid I'm using currently (I always smoked outside). Is there a flavor or lack of same that is known to not bother bystanders?

2. It seems like I'm developing an over sensitivity to the way vaping delivers nicotine. I started with 2.4 nic and was over medicating, so after a few days went to 1.8. Still too much. So now I'm using .6, vaping less, and still feel over medicated and sometimes a tiny bit queasy or head achy in a way cigs don't cause. So I guess I'll try .3 next but considering my cigarette of choice was camel filters this reaction seems an over reaction. Does this sound familiar, any suggestions to finesse the situation or will I just get over it? Hmmm

In the mean time I'm thrilled to be smoking almost no cigarettes. The guy who invented this should get the Nobel prize for medicine.

Well if you're still smoking cigarettes I wouldn't lower the nicotine... I guess it depends on how much you normally smoke. I was a pack a day smoker and started on 18mg. I'm still on 18... however if you're using a dripper you don't want to be over 6mg usually and you could probably go down to 3.

What flavor are you vaping right now? Most watermelon, and strawberry are usually pretty weak in scent.

There are a lot of reasons you could be feeling a little wrong after switching to vape.

You could be getting too little nicotine (just as likely). Different inhalation techniques could help.

Some people have a bad reaction to the Propylene Glycol (PG) in the juice. In that case, you could try using an all-VG (Vegetable Glycerin) juice, which many vendors produce.

Flavors bothering people nearby will always be trial and error, but it's always best to be mindful of those around you the same way you would with cigarettes. There are so many flavors out there and it is nearly impossible to suggest one on that kind of stipulation. Maybe someone else could help you with that here though.

Welcome to ECF and congrats on making the switch!

1. This is going to be highly subjective. My wife can't stand the smell of any of my caramel flavors, as they smell like maple syrup. Maybe just don't vape in the same room as him? Unfortunately, if it has a flavor, it's probably going to have a smell too.

2. Again, this is pretty subjective. I smoked camel lights, and was down to half a pack a day before I switched to vaping, and I started at 36mg nic, and now almost two years in I'm still at around 12-18mg, using much more efficient equipment. The nicotine uptake is a bit different when vaping, as opposed to smoking. When you smoke you get pretty much all of the nic instantly, and your body tells you to stop. With vaping it's more gradual, and for me it's about keeping a steady level of nic. Maybe you're just puffing too often? You could keep lowering your nic, or change up your routine, vape for a few minutes then set it down for awhile, then pick it back up when you feel like you need more.

I think you'll get the hang of it, you're doing great for two weeks in!

Congrats on the success so far.

In answer to your questions...

1. Pretty much all flavoured juice is going to have some trace scent, but ones that I've found that don't linger so much would be:

* menthol
* spearmint
* orange, peach, watermelon

Ones to avoid, IME, would be:

* cakes and pies
* absinthe, licorice
* berries (cherry, blackberry, etc.)
* tobaccos

2. If you're feeling dizzy/nauseous, you might very well be ingesting too much nic. Note that it's really about the total amount you take in over a period of time, not just the concentration in your juice. Vaping 12 mg for 4 hours straight (it happens) will introduce more nic in your system than 24mg for an hour spread through 4. Without knowing more details about your vaping style and habits, it's hard to make a recommendation other than to keep backing off the nic until you're not having the same reaction. There is a chance that you're reacting to some other property of the juice (e.g., PG or VG), but the nic seems like the most likely culprit based on what you wrote. And, hey, if you can get away with very low nic, so much the better, no?

My setup is a Nautilus Mini tank and Vision Spinner 2, voltage adjustable and set to 4.3. I like the vapor it produces far better than my $20 starter rig. All the signs point to over medicating but it seems like I've cut back drastically on the nicotine and bump into the same wall as though it was something else. Tonight I'll get some .3.
-------------------------------
I'll add some more. I perceive nic from cigs hits my system differently than vapor. Cigs are faster and don't make me dizzy or achey, even when I have a cig while feeling uncomfortable from vaping. What ever is happening I'm sure I'll sort it out. Currently I'm smoking only a few cigs a day and not craving more, a situation that's existed since the start. I don't see that situation declining so there is a substantial progress already. I went out for most-of-the-day motorcycle rides Saturday and Sunday, carried no cigs, with no anxiety. Tomorrow I'll try one of my 12 hour work days with no cigs and see if that goes as well as the bike rides.

Likely part of the problem is vaping is fun in a way cigs are not.

I was a 2-3 pack a day Marlboro Reds and chewed 2-3 bags of Red Man a week. When I quit I went right to the tobacco flavors (RY-4, DekangTab, 555) 36-38 nic. It did it's job and got me over the hump in a few months. Now I use 24nic and got away from the tobacco flavors and starting to enjoy the many flavors out there. My new ADV is Blue Moon Ice Cream.

I still have 7 30ml/24nic RY4 bottles from fasttech in my closet. It was a great vape out of the box. Im gonna steep 1 bottle for a month or so and see if it gains or loses flavor.
