I've been vaping for a few weeks now and I love it! It's keep me off analogs :)

Here's the thing, though. I'm shelling out just about as much for pre-filled cartidges as I was for analogs per week and I want to star mixing my own liquid and refilling carts to save some money. I've tried refilling my carts with ready-to-vape e juice, but nothing I've ordered has tasted even close to what I'm looking for (I'm a menthol smoker and I despite that mint taste, I just want plain old menthol). But I'm a little worried about trying to mix my own because I read the "WARNING: Pure nicotine is toxic" label everywhere.

So here's my question: how does one figure out how to dilute the nic-base PG or VG unflavored liquids? I thought I would buy a large bottle of unflavored PG liquid and learn how to mix my own menthol, but I've got no clue how to safely do this. I seems like it'd be more cost effective to buy the 100mg/ml bottles because, when you dilute through mixing, you'd end up getting a lot more juice for your money. Yes or no? My plan was to buy one 100mg/ml 50ml bottle of nic-base unflavored PG liquid and some menthol flavoring. Can someone help me out as to how to determine safe mixing levels? I usually vape 24mg 'MentholGrass' flavor from a company called A Clean Cigarette here in mid-Michigan. I love that flavor but nothing else has come close, thus why I want to mix my own.

Thanks in advance!

You can buy pre-mixed and save money by refilling your existing cart/cartos. There are many good suppliers here on the forum and prices range from low-high. Sampler packs are available from many of the suppliers as well.

DIY can be fun, yet daunting for anyone, especially by the time you gather all your supplies.

Initially to set up diy you'll need to purchase nic, pg and/or vg, flavors, measuring, mixing items and it is more cost effective over time. However until you find what flavors & ratio you truly like, you'll have a rather large order list and the savings won't be noticeable for a while, hth!

Just remember to take every safety precaution when handling unflavored nic. Get a good calculator, and spend some time playing around with it. I use a spreadsheet on a tiny netbook, and can keep it right at my mixing position.

The cost? Once you get going, DIY is the very cheapest part of the puzzle. It's like vaping itself. If you spent $150 per month smoking, and in the first few months buy $500 of gear, it's easy to say "I'm not saving any money". Six months later, you are saving quite a bit of money (assuming you stop buying stuff) :)

DIY is similar. There's bottles, and beakers, and glassware, and gloves, and pipette pumps, and hair nets, and syringes, and lab coats, and dozens of little bottles of flavoring. You don't need everything, especially to start out. You'll probably buy some flavors you don't like (at least at first). Make small 3, or 5, or 10 ml no-nic batches to get a feel for mixing flavorings (niic is by far the most expensive ingredient).

You should have gloves (get a box at Walmart, they are cheap) and bottles (save your empties, or check Ebay). You can use drops, but syringes are dirt cheap, and let you accurately measure and replicate your creations.

Once you've done it a while, your DIY juice is incredibly cheap. THEN you can save more by buying larger botttles of the flavorings that work for you.

I pretty much started mixing my own juices from day one. As long as you take your time to do a bit of research, pickup some basic mixing kit tools and take care whilst preparing your mixes its really rather simple. Actually mixing something thats good to vape takes a bit of trial and error.

I always make sure I have fresh water and paper towels on hand in case of spillage and I treat my bottle of nicotine concentrate (54mg) with respect. If you are concerned then adding in a pair of latex gloves for mixing is a good idea. I've probably made it sound much more scary than it actually is in practice.

I find it rather therapeutic, I'm much more comfortable about whats going into my vape and I can tweak flavours to my own personal tastes. Whilst initially you will have a higher outlay on your ingredients, its much cheaper in the long run.
