The thing that worries me most about people who are new mixing their own juice is that they have proper volumetric equipment to measure everything out accurately. If you don't have that, I would say don't start mixing. If you do, use the calculators and Ryedan's advice on where to look.

Psshh. A little bit of this, a little bit of that, a few drops of those and a few drops of these.

:D

Seriously, good recommendation. Being able to measure reliably makes all the difference in the world. This is especially true if you have that Eureka! moment with a liquid you mixed and you want to replicate the success.

hahahaha yeah before coming to ecf that's what I was doing...a lil of this a lil of that...trying to mix e-juice like how I cook and found out real fast that does not work very well

having a calculator helps greatly and you can save your recipes to tweak later or to remake later...or to share with others when you think you've finally got something that is good.

Correct.

I suspect you are counting drops when you are mixing, correct? That is not accurate. Drops form different droppers will be of different volume. Get yourself a few syringes with blunt needles, say 1 ml, 3 ml and 10 ml. That does me for all my mixing. Use the smallest syringe you can for the amount you are adding. For example, you don't want to try adding 0.3 ml of something with the 10 ml syringe.

Having said that, if you double the number of drops of everything you will make twice as much. The advantage of using ml instead of drops is that you know how much you are actually mixing and everyone will get the same results.

Hope this helps.

Hi, Ryedan!

Yup! Guilty as charged. We were sitting there noobishly counting drops w/ our disposable pipettes, and all we ended up w/ was about 4ml (target was 10ml) of deliriously potent stuff! Thanks for your recommendations! I've already ordered syringes and blunt tips from Wizard Labs and hopefully this will correct things. I really appreciate your help!

If you using pipettes for your drops, count (using PG ) how many drops it takes to make 1 ml, repeat with the VP as it is a lot thicker, and will be a different count per ml. Do again with the flavoring.
That way you will know how many drops of each it takes to make a ml.

You'll see on the calculator where it uses the default of 20 drops per ml.
Find out how many drops you count out per ml, and change the default to match your count.
That may be why your ml's were off.

If I use "drops" for a tiny testing batch, I have 3 different numbers.
I get 23 for PG, 18 for VG, and 32 for flavoring.

So I print out a copy of the recipe using the PG count, change the calculator count for the VG, and then again for the flavoring.
I then change the drop count on my printed copy to match
You'll see that the "ml" never changes, but the drops will.
I only use drops for tiny batches, as I'm no good at measuring out .3 in ml's.
Besides half of it will be left in the glass when I pour it out !

Anyone doing mostly VG blends? I am interested in sticking with VG if possible. I read that if you add around 20% water to a VG blend it helps? Any issues with a mostly VG blend?

I do a 80vg/20pg blend it works great for me. My flavoring is pg so depending on the % I may ad a small amount of just pg to get it correct... Haven't used water don't know on that I'm sure you could try if you don't have any pg

Pure genius, Slots! You're a regular "Heisenberg". ;) My eyes started glazing over once I got to the 3rd or 4th paragraph.

Hi, everyone! Thanks to your recommendations and suggestions, I've successfully mixed a few batches. However, I only have a few extra clearomizers, so I keep having to re-use them over again for different flavors...which is horrible!

Per your experiences, is there anything out there that can make the taste-testing easier, without me having to buy a junk-load of clearomizers?

Thank you for your help!

FOR 10ML Bottles:

Use 60mg Nic and:
1ml for 6mg
2ml for 12mg
3ml for 18mg

I second this - started out (recently) mixing my own and using 60mg nic makes it sooooo easy to get the right level.

Also, keep in mind that it doesnt need to be perfect. Just under or just over your target nic level is just fine. Just dont use way too much nic.

Also - If you're unsure go with a lower nic base so that there is more room for error.

Have fun!
