I thought everyone knew that we constantly eat crushed beetles and other insects as well as secretions of all types of animals on land and out of the sea. Look up cochineal, carmine, carminic acid, or "red dye number 4" *hint, it comes from bugs. Another thing that is used on a lot of candy is called Shellac, which also comes from bugs. Another disturbing thing is called L-cysteine, I know that its used in the making of some flavors (vaping I have no idea, talking about food manufacturing here, but it makes either bready or meaty flavors so its possible if you vape bread or meat flavors, ick) is made from either animal or human hair. Also, although we may not vape it, some of the glycerine that is used in food products comes from rendered animal fat. (this is why we specify VG)

ummm.. and just who was the person that tasted beaver .... to decide it tastes like vanilla and raspberry?..
I know, right?

"Hey, guys! I know what we can do! Let's express these .... glands of these beavers and have a taste testing! Wouldn't that be swell?"

I always thought vanilla came from the vanilla bean. Maybe they feed it to the beaver and then extract the beans from the excrement.

Kopi Luwak is really expensive coffee bean that is first digested by monkeys and workers sift through the excrement to extract the partially digested beans. It is then washed, dried, and ground. Supposedly it's really good but never had it. $70 for 50 grams if you want to try it ;) http://www.deandeluca.com/kopi-luwak-gourmet-coffee.aspx?ref_code=GPPC2&KeyWord=Where%20To%20Buy%20Kopi%20Luwak&gclid=CIDuscje9roCFa8WMgodkSkAyQ

Might be able to find it cheaper or authentic. Country of origin is Canada so I don't necessarily think that's the authentic stuff but first link that popped up with google.

Considering people have been drinking coffee made from beans in palm civet feces (Kopi Luwak) since the 1800s, nothing food related surprises me. Today it sells for hundreds of dollars a pound. I even eat a far amount of bizarre foods/flavoring such as fish sauce and shrimp paste. Its basically made from salted shrimp/fish left to rot in the sun.

The most "delicious" things in the world are rotted and/or fermented.

The best Kimchi i ever had contained "fermented" squid. Some people are put off by the thought of fermented or rotted foods but they will eat sauerkraut which is nearly the same thing. :D Im more put off by the high sodium content of many of these foods but they are typically used in smaller quantities just to season a dish. Some are pretty over powering though. Cambodian foods can be insanely strong with rotten fish pastes (Prahok).
