A few questions about coils that desperately need answered

organic cotton(boil b4 using), 28g kanthal nano coil aprox 6 or 7 wraps, and get something to check your resistance. you can torch or you can heat up and use a tweezers to pinch together when the coil is red hot. Don't touch the coil with anything while you are firing the battery or you will get a short and your coil will break and possibly burn you. Check out some rip trippers videos on building coils, they are simple and up close. doesn't take a rocket scientist to build a decent coil.

I think I probably made the situation sound worse than it was, and caused for huge worry. I suppose the way I worded it made it sound like I had no idea what I was doing, when I was just trying to get a few answers. I've sucessfully built my first coil with little to no problem whatsoever, bought an Ohmmeter from a friend since she had two, and it's vaping like a champ. Getting major clouds, used cotton and 28g Kanthal wire on it, not bad for my first coil if I do say so myself. Sorry for worrying anyone who posted, if anyones still lurking around here.

When you tell us that you aren't checking your coils and don't have a multimeter you in effect screaming at us that you don't know what you are doing.

I also want point out even with a fuse or kick your battery can still have a thermal runaway. Neither one of these will protect a battery from an internal short inside the battery. Once a cell inside a battery is damaged it can either slowly deteriorate and eventually go bad or it can reach a condition where it happens rapidly and Violently vent. The damage can occur from overcharging, discharging too much or to rapidly or just dropping it.

As a few others pointed out you really need an multimeter to check your batteries.

Seriously do get a multimeter they are too useful not to have even if you never use it on your coils.

If you are new to Mechs, start out with known resistance coils from the store, or have a buddy with a VV/VW mod Ohm them for you.
Any B&M worth spending your money in should check your coils for no charge.

You might also find that you will want either a kick or smaller batteries.

Here is my experience with my first mech that was kindly PIFed to me.

NOTE I used a protank 1 for all of this.

Got GG clone, loaded 18650 battery, pulled PT with 1.4ohm coil off of twist and installed on GG.
Pushed the button, puffed and BURNED JUICE.

OK

Changed out coil to 2.4ohm, same thing with burning but not quite so bad.

Replaced battery with 18500, better but still burned.

Finally ended up with a 18350 battery and a 2.4ohm coil.

What I am trying to say is get a couple of different batteries as well as several coils of different known resistance also get a couple of cheap fuses at $5.00 or so they cost a heck of a lot less than a trip to the hospital or a new eyeball.

Also get a battery case to store and carry your batteries in they are cheap and prevent pocket fires.

Another plug for the 18350, I can carry 2 of them in a case in my front pocket with no dis-comfort wheras the '650s or even EGOs are too long.

That said, I got my first VW, a Vamo V3 from FT, found that my juice tasted and vaped best with the 2.4 coils @ 5.0 Watts (or so it says)
and have not picked up a mech in 3 months.........

Don't the 18650 18500 and 18350 all fire at 3.7 volts? Why would it matter if it was a smaller battery or a bigger battery?

Heck if I know, but the larger batteries, with my fluid and lower ohm kanger coils give me a burned taste, this is not subjective, several of my buddies have tried this with me and we all noticed.

I have spend much time and effort discussing it and trying to get a straight answer but have finally come to the conclusion that I still don't know why but I do nknow that it does happen.
