Hello. I'm new to e-cigarettes and had a few questions. First I think I should say that I ordered one of the Health mini e-cigarettes that comes in a cigarette pack-looking box with a built in charger. I know it probably wont last very long but it was very inexpensive and I am going to use it to "try-out" e-smoking.

I am almost 100% sure that I am going to enjoy it as much as - if not more than - traditional smoking. I have been looking around for the best quality e-cig at a price within my budget. My ideal e-cig would look like a cigarette in shape (I don't like the ones that have a flat end) and size (not so small that it makes the battery and cartridge life shorter though) and color (I don't like the black/pink/silver ones with different LED light colors).

I have been looking into different models and I think I am going to order the intellicig EVOlution. It looks like it gives off a good amount of vapor and they say that the battery and atomizer last longer than most others. Also I believe the prongs for outlets are different in the UK than the US so would I need a special adapter to use the charger?

I have also been looking at the DSE901... it's a bit more expensive but the Ultimate Starter Kit deal on thesmokelessshop looks really great!

I can't decide, any suggestions? If you can, please, tell me of your experiences (good and bad) with these two brands or any other brands that you would reccomend.

Also I guess I should say: I have been a smoker for 13 years. I enjoy smoking but don't like the fact that it will probably kill me if I keep doing it. Who would? So I decided to quit.... not because I want to, but because I don't want it to shorten my life any more than it already has. I found that the easiest way for me to cut back and quit was to wake up and not smoke until a certain time of day and each day the time get's a half hour later until eventually I don't smoke at all from the time I wake up to the time I go to sleep. I started my time limit at 6 pm. I kept with this method and I can't get past 10pm. LOL. Every night at 10pm I light up and tend to stay up a bit later than usual just so I can smoke a bit more. I can say that I have cut back immensely and that's good on my health... But I really miss smoking. For me, I don't think it has much to do with the nicotine addiction, I just really enjoy the act of smoking.

Since I think it's more of a habit than an addiction for me, I'm looking for some zero nic juice. I know I can get it at ecigsales at a pretty good price and I could also pick some up at johnsoncreeksmokejuice for a bit more money (you can also specify whether you want a PG or VG mix at this site).

Speaking of PG and VG... how do they differ from one another in how they feel, taste, look, etc... after being vaporized? Also is one better for you than the other? Sorry if I sound clueless but... I kind of am...

DSE901 Black with Blue LED all the way. Why do I say black w/blue LED you'll never get pulled over and it doesnt look like a traditional cigarette (white w/ orange LED) so you can smoke it anywhere and no one will say "Hey, you can't..." b/c they will be too busy wondering what it is. Also DSE901 is very reliable and great to start out with *PLEASE make sure you do the intial 12 hour charge. I did this and my batteries last me about 5 hours of almost constant vaping.
Puresmoker.com 5% discount using discount code ecigreview and has 2 week return policy
they also come in stainless steel and pink.. someone also sells blue, but I cant remember who.

Thanks for the reply! :D

Yeah, I understand the idea behind the different colors of cig and LED, but for me I want it to be as much like a traditional cig as possible. I wouldn't mind people saying that "you can't smoke here" because that would give me a chance to tell them what it is, and show them if need be. Maybe they know someone who smokes and they could refer them to e-smoking. Who knows, maybe it could save someone's life? Plus, sometimes, you just want to be left to smoke in peace.... if I had the black with blue LED and I was smoking in a smoking area or non-smoking area people would constantly be coming up to me asking me what it is... and I might even get pulled over just because the cop is curious... lol. But yeah, idk, that's just my preference.

I went and checked out PureSmoker. Thanks for the link and the coupon code! I'm really going to look into that! :)

Do all of the DSE901 models have the flat ends or can you get them with regular ends somewhere? I'm talking about the shape of the cartridges. I could have sworn I saw them somewhere with the traditional cigarette shape...

You're right. The two best choices you can probably make are a intellicig evo (glowing reviews for this from several uk members, i have one on order) or the dse901b, which is standard for anyone that starts e-smoking, pretty much.
Don't base your opinion of e-smoking on the health model you have ordered. It will probably end up in the garbage pretty quick.

You will want the dse901b just so you can say "Well it's like this compared to the dse901" in reviews or at least to have something everyone has to compare it to. I haven't used the evo yet but i guess it's just a really good, really cheap version of the m401 with a different chip in the battery. The more you e-smoke, the less important it is for it to look like a cigarette. I still prefer mini style devices.

I know it sounds really silly, but the orange LED helps to fool yourself more into thinking that you really are smoking. Although as mentioned, the blue can come in handy while out in public.

It's a good idea to purchase both colours IMO. Also helps with keeping track of which batteries are which when charging.

You'll be nearly shocked by how many ppl wont come up to you and ask what it is. Even my friend Julie went to Busch Gardens (theme park) and no one asked her what it was. She just got a few stares. Sometimes I wish more people would come up and ask what it is. My friend Joe has one of those Fifty One cigarettes that look close to a regular cigarette and he gets the same thing, a few stares.
FYI: The white with the orange LED, no matter what brand or style doesnt exactly look like a real cigarette, but different boats for different folks or something like that.
Also, most cops have been trained about e-cigs and know what they are.
I always seem to be left in piece with my Ecig unless I go to a bar, the drunker ppl are the less afraid they are to come up and ask questions.

I think David Yang has traditional round mouth pieces. Ecigmall.com
hmmm... unless i'm missing something all I see are the flat ones...

I thought as much for such a low price and free shipping from hong kong... So as I smoke (or at least attempt to smoke) my Health mini, I'll just imagine that I can get a good draw without feeling like i'm trying to drink ice cream through a straw! and when the battery dies after two puffs I'll Pretend that it lasted at least a month...

I agree with what you about fooling yourself, lol!

I really don't think I'll need a different color LED because where I live I can pretty much smoke wherever I want... in bars... I can't smoke in Wal-Mart obviously, or places like that... but a lot of the restaurants have smoking sections still and my relatives will let me e-smoke in their houses I'm sure... plus if I stick with what I'm doing and not smoke until after 10pm still then I most likely wont be out unless it's a weekend.

That is shocking! I know if I didn't know what an e-cigarette was and I saw someone puffing on a black cigarette with a blue cherry I would definately ask some questions! lol

I just want it to be familiar, thats all.

Also, can anyone tell me about how much it will cost per month to e-smoke?

I plan to use e-liquid and cartridges as well. I will order a box of cartridges and once they run out use my e-liquid in them until they die.

So using that method + batteries + atomizers...

How often do batteries need to be replaced? And lets say I smoke 20 cigs per day (a high estimate) how many cartridges will I go through per month and how much liquid will I need per month? And atomizers?

I'm sorry if I'm asking silly questions... I'd just really like to know how much it will cost me and I feel better asking people who have been doing this and are experienced e-cig users rather than just blindly jumping in.

Hey Danny -

I'm going into my 4th week now and minus the extra liquid I just bought over this past week, I've only spent a little over a $100. That's for Katy's Ultimate Starter Kit at thesmokelessshop and for a sampler from Johnson Creek and that's last me this long. I smoked roughly 30 cigs a day.

The tough thing to work out is how much you'll end up vaping and the quality of the parts you get. A best case scenario is that you vape only 1-2 ml. a day and none of your atomizers or batteries go wonky. However, it's highly recommended to stock up on spare parts (which I still have yet to do. but I have three batt and two atts from my ultimate kit).

Hope that helps a little. I'm sure someone else will come along and give you some better numbers.

Danny, it really depends an which route you take:

1) Reasoned and researched purchases coupled with really great luck can provide e-smoking at a very small fraction of the cost of analog cigs.

2) Becoming a "hobbyist"... Those of us who constantly chase the "next big thing" in e-smoking. I don't know if we're chasing the idea of perfect replication of smoking but not incurring the health risks, but I know I've been vaping for about 3 1/2 months, and I own 7 e-cigs and about 40 bottles of juice. It will take a VERY long time for me to break even... :)

I hope you fall closer to #1...

I have been vaping a little over a month and I only use the penstyle. I always wonder why the penstyle is not recommended over the mini as it has better battery life and every supplier I talked to said the same thing. I can attest that the penstyles from either puresmoker (rn4072) or ecigmall (dse801) are great. Granted that I only have tried the ecigmall atomizers but the parts between the 2 are mostly interchangable anyway. Also atomizer performance as well as battery life is what really counts in my opinion, and the penstyle has the best of both worlds without upping to a cigar or pipe. but if you are one that would sacrifice battery life over form factor I guess you can opt for any of the other models others have suggested.

Again we see the obsession of "It must look like a cig" hmm.

Grab that 901, you choice of colour. If you are using carts and juice I simply top off the cart with a few drops of juice when vapor drops off. Carts can be topped off for 2 or 3 days or so and some vapers will wash out the filling and dry it out to use again. Me, i'm lazy and bin em after a few days. Save the ones that are a tight snug fit in the attomizer though!

Vaping this way, 5 carts and 15ml of juice should see the average 20 a day smoker through around 10 days. Your milage may vary.

Good luck!

I was hoping to get my Health mini today.... but no.. I didn't.... I hope it doesn't take too much longer.

I think I'm going to order the ultimate 901 kit and the usb passthrough this friday.... hopefully...

Now I'm just trying to find the best place to get liquid. If I was choosing between kick juice or johnson creek smoke juice which do you think I should go with?
