Hello, happy vapers :2cool:

I'm planning a stay in Vancouver to discover this city of my youth dreams (I'm 57 y.o.).

Can someone tells me what is the practice of e-cig in this city ?

I shall come with my own e-liquid containing nicotin.

I already know that the rules are quite strict but can you tell me how one can vape in everyday life ?

Thank you in advance for your tips.

Cheers
Pierre

Welcome to ECF , I don't know what actual laws are on the books for Vancouver . Willing to bet , that you can't use them , where people are not allowed to smoke ie bars , restaurants , etc . There are even places in the U.S. Such as Seattle , and some others , that have very strict , anti-smoking laws . I was up there for a week , and only saw one guy smoking . I was vaping in the farmers market , up there , and no one said anything to me . So by all means , take them along , as there are bound to be places you can get away with it , legal or not .

I havn't been to Vancouver since I started vaping, but I'll be there in a few weeks so we'll see. It's pretty much one of the most liberal laid back places in Canada so I assume it's cool at most places? I think there is a vape lounge there, and I believe there's a group that meets at a bar every sunday evening. I'll have to try to remember where I saw that.

Hello! I'm a newbie to this forum, but finally a thread I can reply to! :)

Yes, I'm from Vancouver, BC. I will share with you my experiences with smoking AND vaping.

I'm a new vaper (only been vaping since Dec 2012) so I'm still looking for places (ie: indoor venues) that actually allow vaping.

Be aware of some of the strict anti-smoking laws that we have (such as no smoking within 6 feet of any public entrance, also no smoking within bus shelters and public parks). Therefore if you do have to vape in said circumstances, do it with discretion.

However! I have vaped in public parks (Stanley park, Trout lake, Pacific Spirit, you name it) and honestly, nobody cares. I guess it's because my e-cig doesn't look like a pretend cigarette.

There are only 2 indoor venues so far that I know of that you can vape freely. One is St. Augustine's on Commercial drive (it's a pub). The other one is the famous hookah bar on Davie street.

Oh and there is that vaping group that meets at the Anza club on some Sunday of the month, but I haven't been to one yet. There's a thread around here on ECF that mentions when the next one will be.

I have also vaped in a non-smoking hotel room once and it's still ok. No complaint by the staff.

Outdoor vaping is fine as there's really no smell. With indoor vaping, you'll have to ask around first. I went out to a club once and asked them their policy on e-cigs and they said no, so in that case just don't vape inside.

Good luck and enjoy Vancity!
