Just went for my bi-annual checkup. I started vaping just after my last checkup where I was scolded about the staining on my teeth and the shape of my gums from tobacco. A couple years ago I even had to have deep root planing on my eye teeth due to the heat of inhaling cigarette smoke making my gums recede.

After six months of vaping, the stains didn't come back and my gums are 100%! It leaves me wondering if PG kills germs or something. The dentist didn't actually come out and say vaping was the cause for improvement, but he was impressed. Just wanted to share the good news. :)

I likewise impressed my dentist and tech. They both know it was my 'bakky secession (aka vaping) that was responsible for my sitting in da waiting room longer than in da dental chair!

Despite me always brushing twice daily, the hygienist always used to spend tons of time scraping this black stuff off of my teeth during the cleaning, I thought it was tar from smoking but they said it wasn't and even the dentist didn't know what it was. This went on for years and actually made cleaning my teeth take longer than it did for most people until I switched to vaping. The hygienist noted that there was a little the next time I had an appointment but significantly less than previous times (switched sometime between two appointments spaced ~6 months apart...) and then on my next appointment and every one since, they noted how there was none.
Over the past couple of years I've had numerous conversations with both the dentist and the hygienist about vaping, I pretty much told them all of the basics, about whatever device I was carrying at the time, the comparisons to smoking, and a bit about the political aspects. Last time I was there, after noting that there was still no more of that black stuff on my teeth, they mentioned that they had mentioned a lot of the stuff I told them about vaping to patients that smoke and that most or all of them switched and don't smoke anymore.

I can't afford a dentist but I have noticed a drastic change in my teeth after only two months of vaping, so I suspect if I had a dentist he would be impressed

I'm sorry to hear that darkreaper. I am no stranger to being short on funds either. A lot of dentists will work with you if you pay cash. Even with insurance it's like $35 for a cleaning. The real money is in fillings and other treatments.
