Time to quit lurking. My name is sara. Had my last cig on 4/3 after a 20+ year pack plus a day habit.
I've had a vamo for just a few days now and noticed it sometimes takes several tries to turn it on. It also seems to shut itself down about half the time when changing the tank. Love this thing, but it's pretty annoying when it takes five minutes to turn it on. Thanks.

Hi Sara and welcome to ECF. Yes I also found the switching on of the Vamo to be much diff from my other smaller PVs. As for shutting down when changing the carto/ tank mine doesn't do that. The only thing I can think of is a possible short in one of the delivery devices (holds and vaporizes juice) that's causing the Vamo protection circuit to kick in.

Mine has intermittent and weird problems if I'm using a low resistance coil (less than 1.3 ohms)... Usually gives me an error, but often just shuts itself off.

That's a feature, not a bug. The short circuit protection feature of the Vamo is anything <1.3 ohms. It's working as advertised.

Yes, I know its short circuit limiter, but it's a solid error with an error display at 1.0 ohms and below, and rather intermittent results from 1.1 to 1.3 ohms often including turning itself off, which the OP may be experiencing. I run LR coils for my mech mods, and often test with the vamo instead of a dvm. If my coils are above 1.0, they often work on the vamo even though it's out of spec.

Ordered direct from china. My brother and 21 yo son had a close look at it and say all seems to be in order. Bro's an electrician, and son a diehard computer geek, so maybe it just doesn't like the way i press buttons ;p. i'll keep playing with it. It just occurred to me, i may have accidentally hit a button or two while changing between clearos and such. Maybe that's why it's shutting down sometimes?

You also have to take into account that coils are not always stable. Heat/liquid saturation etc.
I have seen coils sit at 1.8 and suddenly drop to 1.5 or rise to 2.0. after sitting a while, back to 1.8ohm

Vamo will read a drop and may shut down to protect the PCB - normal operation.

Also remember pushing the limits simply means killing it sooner. Everything has parameters. once you start pushing them life expectancy decreases in proportion.

Using atomizers of 1.2ohm or less will cause the screen to display LO Ω which indicates that you need to use a new atomizer of higher resistance. The resistance needs to be higher to ensure "venting" (or exploding if you believe the uneducated) is greatly reduced.

I'm not aware of an auto shut down but if you press the go button for 10 seconds or more it will shut down automatically. Changing clearos should not shut it down.

Don't count to five. Just press it like a mad man until it comes on/off.

I love my Vamo:vapor:

this coming from another electrician. mine was doing the same thing but all the time, it was actually a wonky soldier connection on the center pin. If i moved my tank one way or the other i could go from normal to dead short, popped the top off, cut the excess wire and it's been good to go for over a week now. It's even survived a bumpy road trip in a bag in the trunk :D.

I have noticed wonky resistance/ohms Ω readings for the past couple days. I've posted in another thread, and read of several threads with similar issues. Seems to be that centerpin in the head, a weak silicon gasket under/around it, and atty that want to screw way, way down to stop rattling.

I've stopgap resolved this with a eGo/510 adapter between my Griffin rba and the Vamo, but I need to buy a couple of those #60 o-rings and solve it, (bandaids/stopgaps are irksome). This problem was not present while I used a mini-nova all day, so I am sure it's the 510-connector issue, thankfully.. (I did not want to RMA this Vamo, it's that nice! ;-)
