This is a letter I have sent to some of our newspapers in Saskatchewan;

Dear Editor
My name is Greg Hamacher and I was told about Vapor cigarettes by a friend at work. He had
cancer of the throat once and has had surgery for this and was told he had to
quit smoking or he may have a relapse and require more surgery or even die. He
tried all health related products patches, gum, mists...etc to quit smoking to
no avail, he just couldn't stay away from the cigarettes and he was scared. He
was told about Vapor **** one of the stores in Saskatoon and started to vape as
it seems to be known as now and has not smoked in over a year. He feels better
with no coughing in mornings or during the day, he is also using the lower
nicotine levels now hoping at sometime to get off the nicotine altogether.
I myself decided to try vaping and bought a starters kit to see if it would help
me to cut down. I was smoking over a pack of 25 cigarettes a day at a cost every
month of over $500.00 due to tax increases on tobacco products and I to have
tried the conventional nicotine help aids out there in the past when I thought I wanted to quit
and also to no avail. Well I started to vape a month ago and have not had a cigarette since without any
withdrawal dragging me back. I too feel and breath better already and when I
check my ecigarette's tip there is no tar or residue found.
Now we have Health Canada saying that it is not good for you but it has not been tested they
say, so how can they know that it is not good for you without testing? It seems
to me that they are quick to warn against without the facts, but will not tell
people it is better than smoking cigarettes that are full of tars and resins and
other chemicals. But I also know they are not receiving any tax dollars for the
liquid that goes into a vapor cigarette accept for sales tax. If you check there
are no controlled substances in the vapor liquid and the nicotine levels are
below regulated amounts but it does work for a person wanting to give up
smoking. I did not even want to quit, I like smoking, but I have not smoked a
cigarette in over a month, cold turkey and no cravings that draw me back.
I truly think it is healthier and the controversy is not about how healthy it is
(But more about the taxes, the money). Even the traditional help aids sold in
pharmacies are very costly over a month, yet with vapor I spent a one time cost
of $100.00 for a ecigarette and now my products to use that cigarette cost about
$50.00 a month. Yes the government and cigarette companies are going to say it
is not good for you, but they have no real grounds for their findings, they are
loosing money!
Also if they band these I know I will go back to smoking.

Thanks for the encouragement and yes we all do need to speak out and start sharing the positives we have all found in vapor therapy lol as I am starting to see it. E-cigarettes for me have been a true blessing and I do feel and breath better already since I am not polluting my lungs with all the tar from tobacco.
There are many benefits to vaping and if we try our best we can get them out there and crush the propaganda that is being flooded into the public. A woman told me last week she saw a documentary on E-cigs and they say one exploded and took off half a man's face, well I have also seen information about cell phones doing the same thing and they were hoaxes. It all boils down to the fact that they are trying to control our rights once again by filling the public with bad and untrue propaganda so they can step up and tax and control the product with the majority of the public behind them filled with this bad propaganda.
There are medical benefits as well, here in Canada the government is growing and using ......... therapy (prescription weed) that yes is prescribed to individuals, well the way I see it if they added the drug to ejuice for their patients they would not have to give them ......... that can make it back out on the streets and the pharmaceutical companies and government make their cash and keep better control, a simple vapor pen and prescription e-juice sold at the pharmacy, a plus for all concerned citizens.
I await your feed back good and bad. Also your ideas and experiences, the good ones, the positives you see in vapor therapy theology LOL!
Spencer McGill is probably right should have edited a bit better, took time to cool off before I sent it on to the editors. I wrote that letter after reading a article in one of our free press papers here, the article interviewed a owner of the a vapor store here in Saskatoon and she had positive information to share but it got cut to a one line statement by the press and three paragraphs of propaganda BS, I was a little steamed when I wrote the letter and too quick at sending it off, but I also know that if I do not act when I am steamed complacency has a bad habit of the job never getting done and I will leave it up to you.
Please write your own articles of the benefits you have found in vaping and send them to as many newspapers as you can, we need to be heard before it is too late, sitting here chatting about it does not really get our voice out there, we need the support of the public and to get it we need to show the positives in vapor therapy.
Glad to be a part of this forum Greg Hamacher

Good job on the letter. It is ALL about the money.

The taxes that use to go to states from cigs is getting smaller. The state governments are getting worried, as these cigarette taxes are already spent, but now, the taxes coming in is being cut. We will face taxes on ecig juice because of this.
And let's not forget about all the medical money that is spent on heart, lung and other issues CAUSED by cigs. The big pharmaceutical companies and hospitals are getting worried too.
The US government is getting worried too, because those ex-smokers will be living longer and will cause Social Security to be paid out for longer periods of time.

For us ex-cigarette smokers, IT IS about our health and enjoyment. I could never quit those stinky cigs, even when I chewed the nic gum, I needed a cig at least three times a day. I quit the cigarettes cold turkey with vaping! I NEVER thought I could be a NON-SMOKER, but now, I am. With over a 1,000 days behind me, I am proud of myself.

There is one caveat, that I think some of us are missing: would we go back to smoking, and killing ourselves IF vaping is banned outright?
I can say, for myself, I would go back to smoking cigarettes, if they banned e-cigarettes today. I am trying to cut the nicotine down, I am at 18mg/ml but was doing 24mg/ml. I want to cut down to 0mg's and just vape for the fun of it. I love to blow smoke rings! BUT for now, I am still hooked on the nicotine. My target to be at 0mgs is May of 2015. Then, I won't care if they tax ejuice, as I will make my own juice without the nicotine. And how can they regulate that? Or can they?
