I've shouted to the heavens before about how vapers in the world today may need
to be loud squeaky wheels to be heard. While posted elsewhere, when I saw a congressman
www.statnews.com/2016/02/11/congressman-duncan-hunter-vaping/
openly draw on his vaporizer in congress I was impressed. it is against the law to smoke or vape
in government buldings in DC as well as many states in the USA. This therefore was a strong act
of civil disobedience to drive home the point that vaporizers "are the future".Kudos to Night Hawk
for first posting this video find.
My point is not to duplicate or bump previous threads.
My point is to begin discussion about civil disobedience, a volitile subject.
I dont think we are going to hurt the legal channels already being used by other support groups.
Im not convinces vapors avegotten the word out there, the general public has so many wierd
myths and fears, and we MUST helpthem overcome these misinformation sources by getting in thier face.
Just like Duncan Hunter!
Cheers.

The time may come when civil disobedience will become an important option.
I'm not sure that time is now though, but I do kind of wish it was.

I've been considering my own little civil disobedience action...
In the middle of the UCSD campus.

But so far, I haven't decided it is something I should do at this time.

There are laws that can protect a member of Congress in the context of their duties. He could get censured I suppose.
GooD! Let them TRY! Im sure it will serve as another excuse to bring vape into the limelight.
he's not truly in legal danger, as he was using a "prop" to help explain his point.
I love the reaction of those "taken back" not expecting what they saw as brash. teehee..View media item 429478

An idea that come to my mind for such disobedience is:
- not necessarily congregate in a group, but gather say a dozen vapers who go into an establishment (I'm thinking Wal-mart sized store) and vape, spread out. There are lots of factors here that could come into play, but I'd be very interested in video interviewing people exiting the store to see if they noticed anyone vaping in the store. I imagine most would respond with no. Showing the video of people (openly) vaping balanced with 10 to 30 non-vaper interviews who say they had no idea would make a pretty good point IMO.

Honestly, if I were to organize this, I'd want to control a few things about the vapers, but not too much. I'd feel fairly confident that most people in the store at same time as vapers would have no clue that vaping was occurring. If same store had 12 people smoking combustibles, I think it would be very few people that didn't know it was occurring.

I originally had my first line of response as "Some ideas...for such disobedience are:"
... but feel now is not necessarily the time to lay out our entire playbook for what will make the points of:
- no one will likely notice vapers vaping in public around you
- no one will likely be bothered
- science/disobedient practice will show/has shown that no one will likely be harmed by vapers vaping in public
- all the hype against vaping in public is mostly based on deception and disrespect that has gone the other way in this so called civilized society we live in

The House and Senate make rules for themselves and are not subject to laws from any outside body.

Thanks so much for the thoughts and support!
a side note: I once saw someone in an act of singular civil disobedience do awful harm to we vapers in a large supermarket store in Hawaii where Medical Marijuana is legal. He was using a vaporizer for his "medicine" and the clouds that came out had the most noticeable aroma, they couldnt be ignored. If you've ever walked into a B&M store full of cloud chasers, it was like that from a single individual exhaling distinctly pungent clouds. I was so angry yet pulled my zen self out of my anxiety and kept walking. Sure enough, the backlash came.
Supermarkets, Big Box stores (*like Walmarts) are considered "anchor tenants", and pay the highest rent for the shopping centers and/malls they rent from. As such, they can be bullies and threaten management to get their way.
This supermarket chain is state wide and they had the entire shopping center posted with no smoking of any nature, no electronic cigarette devices, allowed on the property.
Hence we lost ground, and lost an outdoor public smoking area which had formerly complied with the state laws.
In my state at the time, e cigarettes and tobacco are to be no less than 15 feet from any entrance to an establishment OR within designated smoking areas. NO public use of medical marijuana is permitted by law.
I mention this, to illustrate that all activities need to be well researched, well planned, and many heads thinking together may prove the best results.
Cheers!

Duncan Hunter may be frustrated that the issue is being ignored so he does things that provoke comment. I'd say DiCaprio is making a political statement even if he is also indulging himself. The bad publicity might not be all bad. Ecig issues need more attention. Let's have the debate.

And I don't regret the latest video of the guy fighting a fire in his pocket. A lot of people are going to see that video. It's time for a wake up call about handling Li batteries. There hasn't been a fatality--yet. May be this video will help put that off.

Oh, yea. I just joined a flashlight forum to research the topic since I'm handling 18650's already why not get a light. Well those folks are more freaked out about battery safety than we are and they follow ecig accidents as closely as we do. Apparently flashlights can misbehave the same way ecigs do. So where are the exploding flashlight news stories?

It would just be me and my wife on the "hump" having a nice, quiet picnic.
I'd be vaping out loud, and if security came over and asked me to stop I would refuse.

Then I would resist, and probably get tasered because I'm 6'5" and 235 pounds.
It would be on YouTube within minutes.

There is another location that would really make your point ... :D

I mean, is there anyone so clueless as to object to vaping in the vicinity of a GEYSER ?
