After a month+ of vaping, I discovered last night I wasn't doing the "inhale" part effectively. In the past, I would every now & then get a good throat hit ... but it was a rare happening. I used to pull the vapor into my mouth and then, with mouth still closed, pull it all the rest of the way into my lungs. That resulted in only occasional satisfying TH. I blamed the juices, even though I order 18-24 mg strength.

Last night I found a way to guarantee a "good" TH every time: I still pull the vapor into my mouth as usual, but THEN open my mouth just a bit to pull the vapor + this inhaled extra air all the way down. BINGO!!!

I offer this up thinking maybe other noobs might benefit.

Not trying to be a smart ..., but how do you inhale without opening your mouth? If you just bring the vape (or smoke, if you smoke) into your mouth, and just use your nose to breathe, you are not inhaling. You have to inhale, using your mouth, to inhale whatever is in your mouth, otherwise you would aspirate food when you have food in your mouth and breathe with your nose.

Dunno ... but I was sure managing to inhale before with mouth closed ... :) Haven't aspirated food as of yet. Will let you know if I need the Heimlich.
My mistake in wording... to "inhale" vape, or smoke, you use your mouth to breathe, not your nose. A person that just puffs, does not "inhale" through their mouth the vape or smoke after it's in their mouths, is not consider "inhaling", they are "puffing".
So, you are a puffer, not an "inhaler".

Sorry, but my Neurologist has upped my MS medication, so it's a tad difficult to verbalize at times. When a smoker draws on a cigarette, getting a mouthful of smoke, then takes a breath, with the smoke, through the mouth, it's called "inhaling". If, a smoker draws on a cigarette, getting a mouthful of smoke, takes a breath through the nose, then blows out the smoke from the mouth (without inhaling the smoke by breathing in through the mouth) it is called "puffing". Apparently you have been "puffing", and not "inhaling" the vapor.

Yeah I read the same thing! I even tried it to figure out how they inhaled. I guess they just meant breath thru the nose. Damn near almost choked myself trying it...

Def inhale thru your mouth to get TH

I just tried puffing, without inhaling through my mouth, just pulling the vapor into my mouth, and blowing it out through my nose.... OMG, that's horrible! My nose burned! Once you inhale through your mouth (inhaling the vapor), blowing it through the nose is pleasant, but the other way is just torture! I don't know how JackieJ was tolerating it! If that's what vaporing was about, I wouldn't be doing it!

You do not have to open your mouth after doing a mouth inhale to get smoke/vapor into your lungs.

When you are doing a mouth inhale, you are opening up the inside of your mouth, to create negative pressure that will suck in vapor. Well, what did you know, your mouth can also do the opposite of this. After doing a mouth inhale, you can keep your mouth closed, and "shut" the inside of your mouth, while inhaling through your nose, this will allow the vapor in your mouth to be drawn into your lungs.

Not really that difficult of a concept, I don't know why everyone seems to think the OP was never actually inhaling the smoke/vapor. It's pretty simple to inhale smoke into your lungs, from your mouth, without opening your mouth. Just take a drag, close your mouth, "squeeze" the inside of your mouth shut while inhaling, and the smoke will travel from your mouth, into your lungs.

I know what you are saying OP, it seems to be confusing others, however.

But yes, this way of inhaling doesn't give you TH because you are very slowly taking the vapor into your lungs. When you draw into your mouth, and then open your mouth, all the vapor instantly flys down your throat, giving you good TH.

Your method, which is more of "swallowing" the vapor into your lungs instead of shoving it down there with forced ambient air, doesn't draw 100% of the vapor through your throat all at once, but gradually, giving you less TH.

Hope I explained that all clearly.

You are RIGHT ON, Uncle Chuck ... THANK you. Hell ... they were beginning to confuse ME, and I'M the one who has been "closed mouth" inhaling into my lungs for the past 40 years! You explained it absolutely beautifully, sir. And now, thanks to your HELPFUL post, I understand why the open mouth air intake does give me the TH I've been looking for.

Sincerely,
Aunt Jackie

Ah ha! Ye olde open your mouth trick. Now that you've got that down, occasionally lift your tongue and get some more buds involved, also occasionally 'leak' some vapor and 'nose' it or on exhale pull some back in by nose to get the smeller involved. Vapor won't burn your nostrils (at least it doesn't mine). :vapor:

not to confuse the matter...but I double inhale...take a drag...breath in...then keep taking a drag while exhaling through the nose...then pull the second hit into the lungs...then exhale:)
I do the same thing, I may be wrong, or maybe its just me, but I think it gives me more of the flavor, like how if you pinch your nose you cant taste the same? I dunno maybe just me lol
