You might want to look into dripping. No carts/cartos, just put a few drops right into your atomizer and vape away. Obviously this has it's limitations (good luck dripping and driving) but if you don't want to mess with cartridges or cartomizers, your options are limited.

And wv2win... you keep plugging the darwin... I'm sure its a great PV but at a $245 price point, it's not something most of us are going to look into, especially those of us looking in the New Members Forum for helpful information. Not trying to dog on you, I'm sure it's a great PV!

I would have gladly pd $200+ for a high quality PV versus the $190 I pd for a mall kit I had to replace in a week. I see many posts requesting a good PV with replies price-based rather than quality. Not saying there aren't good $50 PVs out there but they're in a different ballpark than the Darwin.

I too would have loved to know about high quality mods before buying a mall kit. I purchased a 510 kit with one battery and a pcc for over $100. If i knew that the Darwin or Provari existed would have started me with a awesome setup. I easy spent the cost of both of them in less than a month on analogs, how could it be unreasonable to consider either of them as the first PV.

I've got to add another vote for the eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer

I've had mine for about a month and it's a consistent, good vape. They hold a ton of liquid, have a pretty nice draw, and every time I hit it, I know what to expect. The only thing I do with mine is top it off occasionally. Sometimes I'll blow it out to get old juice out, but I don't mess with washing them or anything like that. For $2.50 each, you'd be crazy not to get a few.

I don't get cartomizers either. The polyfill type don't leak, but that filler alters the flavor of the nicquid. The clearomizer types have a tendency to leak like sieve from time to time. A product that is supposed to hold liquid yet leaks is a deal breaker for me.

For now, I just drip. I'm hopeful that some day someone will produce a reliable carto that doesn't alter flavor. I just haven't found one yet.

On a side note... Nice to see others from Utah active on the forum.

    tj, that's a nice looking setup. :)

No doubt - And that battery has probably never been called "dainty" either. :D

My passthrough battery is a copper color - with that black carto on top it looks like a big Duracell.

But all that aside - it is a nice vapin' combo that's pretty hassle-free.

Hahaaa a big Duracell, who'd you get your copper batt from? that outta be pretty sweet!

I would say you are doing it right!! Maybe it is your juice or maybe they are better cartos. I vape 60/40 12 mg juice and it gunks up my stuff pretty well. Once I get gunk deposits my cartos start tasting burnt and I can't stand them.

Just a quick update, I had my first carto 'gunk up' .... pulled the batting out of there and there was a dark brown/black mass of goop near the bottom running about 1/2 way up the side ... EWW!

Symptoms were, no vapor! bad taste! had to give it an extended burn to get anything out at all.

I thing I could fix it with new batting, but I just threw that one away and opened another from the 5 pack. Actually opened a couple and did different flavs.

After getting interested in ecigs, I found the ECF forums, I read a lot, I asked some questions, and I bought an ego kit with 2 1000 mah batteries, a type A tank/atomizer, a box of cartomizers, a drip tip, and two bottles of fluid. I spent around $125, and felt I was spending quite a bit.

But I didn't really expect this to work. I didn't think it would change my smoking habits, because nothing else I've ever tried has come close to getting me off the cigs.

If I'd been told I needed to spend $250 on a Darwin or Provari, plus more for fluid, cartomizers, chargers, batteries, etc, I wouldn't have bothered. I was smoking 3 packs a day, so if you look at it as "four or five weeks worth of cigs that you don't buy will pay it back and you'll be even on money" it makes sense. But in order to trust that, you have to believe it's going to work. I'd have never thrown $300 into getting started with a high end mod and the various other "stuff".

Now that I've had my ego for a month, and I can see that it actually *is* working, then it's much easier to justify setting aside some of my weekly savings on cigs-not-purchased for money to get a high end mod.

Baldr I agree 100% when I started vaping if someone had told me I needed to spend 200+ on a pv I never would have done it. I too was skeptical and couldn't afford to waste 200 bucks on something that didn't work. Fortunately for me the riva did work. And I have since spend more then 200 on multiple mods. But I am saving over 200 a month by not smoking.

Here is my :2c:. The bottom feeders are IMHO rise to the top when it comes to a "No Nonsense, No Maintenance, Long Lasting, "Cloud Machine" PV". Just fill the bottle and go. I have a Reo Grand and use a LR atty on it. Give the attry a PGA bath about every 4 days, fill the bottle, put in a fully charged battery and I am set for the day.

I'm not knocking any of the other mod's at all because I know there are some really good ones out there. I also own a provari which I feel is an excellent mod because you can dail it in to your sweet spot. Just keep in mind that there is a reason the Darwin, Provari, and several others are in the $200+ price range...........They are the "cream of the crop"

Working on my second fill so i don't have long term results, but this combo is working flawless for the past 5 hours. Chain vaping entire time except for a break to come off the nic buzz. No flooding, gargling, dry hits, or anything negative to say. Flavor is great every draw, and huge clouds of vapor. I really can't imagine a better vape.

I do understand how one wouldn't want to spend the initial $300 on a unknown products success. My health was my motivation, I really wanted to quit analogs and had tried every method i could as i do not have health insurance. I've spent more money on cigarettes than i have on my college education. I'm not wealthy, but comparing to the money i've burned so far on cigarettes is no comparison. Half my rent on 1 PAD habit per month, doesn't seem like much day by day. It took an economics class to use smoking as an example, of how to waste money. Professor used me as an example, calculating how much i spent over 15 years is a HOUSE worth of cigarettes! It makes sense to me to buy a $160 PV if it's the best chance i have to break my habit. I live by the philosophy of "you get what you pay for" and in the world of PV's it's no different.

That is the very reason I ordered my first PV, which just so happened to be a Provari. My tanks use CE2's and I have had pretty good success with them. My first carto tank is being made now and should be done soon.

Ksmith, i wish i could say the same. I spent enough on "starter kits" to buy the ProVari, simply cause i wasn't as informed as i am now. I started vaping before the ProVari was released, but after reading all the reviews and comparisons i was convinced i found my PV.

lunchbox0, I spent the money on the "starter Kits" also. Then went to the ego-t and liked it for awhile. I didn't have the leakage problems that I've read so much about, but when I got my first clearomizer and the flavors started exploding out I understood what people were talking about when they said "muted flavor" and knew it was time to try something else. Buying the Provari was easy after reading all the good reviews and I felt it was the best $160.00 that I've ever spent.
