After the hours and hours I've spent researching e-cigs on the net, with about 60% of that time being done in this forum, I can't say I disagree with you entirely. I've already seen that particular rule of thumb several times. Actually someone repeats it pretty much every time a person asks for advice on which model to buy when starting out. However, as far as any rule of thumb goes. There are always exceptions. And sometimes big things come in small packages.

Will this give me as much vapor as something like the Prodigy, or even the ever popular 510? Probably not. And it probably won't have as strong of a throat kick either. But it does do a more then adequate job of both. Actually an exceptional job considering it's size. Plus it has at least a 4 hour battery, with people saying they get more like 5 to 6 hours before it needs charging. That's impressive, and not to many of the larger e-cigs can say that. Some minor trade offs? Yeah, absolutely. But it's unlikely that any first time user such as myself will notice.
For what this is, and how well it does its job, the pluses far outweigh the negatives.

Also, in my short time as a forum member here, I've already seen quite a few posts from experienced vapers saying they find themselves using this particular model more then their 510's, or other e-cigs they own. So there must be something about it.

And as far as the coolness factor goes. I may, or may not be cool, but this little baby just oozes coolness. I can guarantee people will ask to look at it, and undoubtedly say something like, "Wow, that's really cool". In fact, some will say those exact words.
The M401 Dragon has style and panache, and it's a conversation starter. All these things combined make this a good solid unit. So, while dragon owners may not have the very best vaporizer out there. We could do a lot worse. :D

You made some good points. Everyone is different. I've read that the 401 is little more sturdy than the 4081 as example. I will suggest one thing, however. If you find you enjoy vaping with the 401, then don't try a Prodigy or bigger battery device. Once you do, you will find it difficult to be satisfied with the little PV's. I occassionally pull out my 901 just to remember what it was like. It's like I'm not vaping at all, just pretending.:D

Good Luck.

Trust me, I am dead serious about getting off the cigs.
Besides, I think I read somewhere that JD is coming out with a manual battery version of the dragon pretty soon, Either way, this thing puts out good vapor and has a decent throat kick.....Well at least according to all the reviews I've read. I mean I haven't actually gotten it yet. But I have no doubts about it.
But besides all that, it's freaking gorgeous, I mean just look at this thing.
And then there's the coolness factor!
How could you not want one? :D

I just heard about ecigs a few days before placing my order from the guy who used to sell me cigarettes, when we were griping about the price of analogues. He didn't sell them there, but I was intrigued enough to start researching it. Thanks to this forum, I too avoided such mistakes as ordering the GreenSmoke, Blu, and Bloog, all of which the only step left was hitting the button to complete the order. Funny how when you're about to make a mistake like this something kicks in and tells you to reconsider. Anyway, I also got the Dragon M401 as my first ecig and am more than happy with it, and JD is an amazing guy to buy from - fast shipping, very knowledgeable and patient with newbie questions, quality products - he rocks! You'll love your Dragon I bet!

Don't let people get you down about your choice of the Dragon/M401. :) I've been through a 901, a 510, a VX2, and some junky thing off ebay, and I've settled on my 401s. They're great little e-cigs in a sexy package, and they do their job. With manual batteries and charging cases in the works, they'll be just about perfect soon.

I still keep my 510 around for when I need that harsh throat hit, and I think that's a great model for someone just quitting analogs. But once you're over the nic/chemical fits, the taste and battery life on the 401 wins out (for me, at least). I can't speak to any of the mods, because I don't own any. I'm sure they're great, just can't bring myself to spend more money when I'm happy with what I have.

Let us know what you think when you get it!

You are right about that, I do love my Dragon. Also correct about dealing with JD. Fast processing and shipping. Extremely helpful. Responds quickly to all customer concerns. Definitely a positive experience.

I received it on the 21st of Aug. Love it! Love it! Love it! Went from 2 1/2 packs of smokes a day, to only 3 analogs in the first 2 days after my Dragon arrived. I have not had even one since then. Talk about yer miracles.
My big problem now is I'm becoming a juice ...... :p
