The lighting was really Harsh Stage lighting, but I managed to pull out of the fire about 100 shots of the Orchestra that turned out awesome. This is my Favorite one of the whole bunch.

Thank you junkman! :) I have been blessed with extremely Steady hands, so even with an f4 400 mm. lens and a shutter speed of 1/80th. of a second without a Tripod I was LUCKY enough to pull it off. :)

I almost asked about a tripod, but then said, "of course he was using a tripod." That 400 isn't even IS is it? Damn impressive.

Thank you my Friend! :) The 400 L that I have is not an IS lens. I sure would love to have an IS version, but I'm holding out to buy another and bigger lens, IE: 500L, or a 600L or if I am extremely Lucky and good an 800L. I do a lot of Eagle photography, so I would absolutely benefit from a 600 L or an 800 L. Heck, I would even settle for a Non-IS version! :)

I do have a really great and Sturdy Tripod that would handle my camera and whatever lens I put on it, but I very rarelly ever use it. I am LUCKY enough to have a set of steady hands, so I normally shot with the 400 hand held. It's much easier to track birds in flight by hand. Not only that, but sometimes the birds don't give me much time to set up the tripod, get the camera mounted, find the bird in the view finder, focus and shoot. :( ;) :)
