i'm using the uwell caliburn and it's great, however, the airflow is too airy for me,
so i'm using scotch tape to cover the air holes on the sides
+ cover the gap between the pod and the body on one side,
i wanted to ask: is it safe to do it...can it cause the battery to explode?

thanks
I'm not familiar with that device in particular, but I don't see how it could cause the battery to do anything bad.
Worst case, you'll burn coils out more quickly. Someone who owns one should be along soon to reassure you more though.

Welcome and glad you joined.
Agree with replies above. Another observation, ideal air flow settings can vary from E Liquid (composition and flavor used), ambient temperature/time of year and power watt/volt settings, desired cloud production to name a few.

I pity you, the hapless victim of exploding battery propaganda, and I blame the ANTZ and the media for making you this way. Batteries do not randomly explode; they explode when misused. And in a protected device like the Caliburn with a LiPo pack this is nigh impossible. You should fear it much as you fear your cellphone.

The last time some do-gooder approached me and quipped,
"You know those things explode, right?"
I arched my eyebrows and replied,
"You know cellphones explode too, but we still use them."
and he had nothing to answer.

Thank you all for your replies.
Uwell answered me via mail and give me this strange answer:
"After check with the R&D, they don't suggest to do that, as it may bring some dangerous. "
That made me a bit confused :-(
It's called CYA from the Legal Department. If, somehow, you manage to hurt yourself, and they are on record as endorsing your nonstandard use of their product, they could be liable. It might do to remember that whoever invented vaping did it without anybody's permission. Use your own good sense.
