Be careful. There seems to be some of the newer 14500 batts that are slightly longer than what we are used to. These could present a problem fitting into the unit.

Eledil...thanks for pointing that out. I did notice that at one site they mentioned their batteries were a tad longer. But longer than what??? Anyone know for sure which brand fits the Mr Puffer ??? I was looking at buying the Tenergy. The Ultrafire were the ones that were described as being longer....14mm X 52.5mm to be specific.

Another thing about these batteries is that it says they are "unprotected". Mr. Puff suggests to use "protected" batteries. Just thought I would add my .02.

Gammi....so what batteries do you use? I mean specifically which brand? The Ultrfires I am looking at say they are a little longer but are protected.

I did write to the affiliate supplier of Mr Puffer as they are the ones selling the slightly longer battery...the Ultrfire. I'll post here what they say.

For safety reasons I wouldn't suggest using any unprotected batteries at all, though I'm sure a lot here on this forum have with no issues, safety first in my opinion.

I have the Ultrafire ones. They are a tight fit but they work...I ordered them from one of the affiliates that was posted at Puffatronics. They work great and they sure won't fall out.

Well that explains why the batteries I bought were so tight lol I cut the spring so that the batteries fit in without making it look like a knot.

...may be newer threads on this by now that I haven't seen/yet, but anyway... Myself I got the AW 14500s from lighthound.com. Not only because AW is so well liked & trusted around here, but their CR123s are smaller than all or most others, so I was thinking maybe this type would be too. Will have my MrPuffer 'any minute' now so will see, but I've heard at least one person (whimzcool) mention using the AWs in it and she didn't say anything about a tight fit. Actually she may have posted that they fit well, in reply to someone who asked.
