Cigarettes strike again. This morning my father passed away from lung cancer. oh um i guess i mean wednesday morning but i haven't really slept yet so its still this morning for me lol. He was only 69 years old but he was a heavy smoker for over 40 of that. When I started vaping back in feb he thought it was silly. Said what do you need all that for? if your gonna quit just do it and quit. he wasn't interested. and he didnt have a problem doing just that when they told him in june about the cancer. but of course by then it was far too late. Surgery was an option then (that we wish we had taken) but the way the doctors pushed for the chemo you would think its the holy grail. So we let them do the chemo and it didnt do anything but make him feel run down. After the 3rd and final treatment we hear that oh the hospital might have messed up and given him the wrong dose or something that wasn't quite right. Dad never really was sure and its not like it matters now. In the last few short months we watched him fade from a robust outgoing well spoken individual to just a tiny frail shell.... and it happened so fast... He sure wasnt ready and neither are the rest of us.

I guess the moral of the story is get your loved ones off the ciggies if they do that. Life's too short.
i may not be around much in the coming weeks as my dad had a lot I am going to have to dismantle and relocate but once the dust settles I have some cool ideas and will be back with a vengeance lol
Of course Bad will prolly drop some big bomb that makes all my ideas obsolete again - not that i mind lol the more the merrier!
Peace and Love

Dear harmonic,

I'm so sorry to hear for your loss. A few years ago I watched my grandfather go through the same thing: he was still strong as an ox but they said surgery was risky and chemo was more safe. His vice was more cured meats than cigarettes, though. He lost 120 pounds in a month after he started chemo. Then he was recovering back to his old self; the last time I saw him outside of the hospital we were having breakfast out and laughing together and I was showing him my new car. The doctors said it was a 2 years to live vs. 5 years to live with the chemo and he went back for another session. A week later the man I respected most in my life was gone :(

It's really wonderful that we have such a convenient and even fun way to grow ourselves out of the destructive habit of smoking with vaping. It's unfortunate that so many people are lobbying to restrict their use because it doesn't conform to draconian ideals. Trying to help your loved ones make the transition is a noble cause

We all understand if you can't spend the amount of time you usually do on the forums through this period, but if you want a diversion some of us are always here :)

I know this is a sad time Harmonic, but I also sense relief in your tone, as well there should be.

He is going to be just fine now, the hard part is just a flash in the rear view mirror...

Keep your head up, and fight the good fight.

Sending positive vibes your way:

Awwww, Harmonic any of us who have seen what it can do feel the utmost sympathy for you. My Dad was told he only had a small bit of colon cancer and that they'd take it out and he'd probably be fine. When they did the surgery they found it in 4 different organs. They removed part of his colon, stomach, gallbladder, and something else i can't remember. He was rarely able to eat, lived the next 2 years mostly on ensure. After all that and the chemo and all, it moved on to his liver and he called it quits. His heart was so strong that it took him over 2 weeks to pass, the most heartbreaking thing I've ever had to go through. My love goes out to you! Hang in there, the branch is as strong as you are.

Harmonic, I am sorry for your loss. I understand what your going through. I lost my father to cancer a few years ago. We found out he had it on a Wednesday, by Monday it spread throughout his whole body, he passed on Saturday. When my mom died the year before him, I was thankful that my dad didn't suffer to much. My mom passed from sclerederma (really nasty disease) and we watched her slip away for 7 years. It was harder with my mom because we never knew if we would get a call at any moment. I know I don't know you but I will keep you in my prayers.
