I think the most important thing to remember when you start vaping is when you feel the need to smoke a cigarette then do it and don't get down on yourself for doing so.
Look at how many you don't smoke in the beginning, not how many you do.
I was a PAD (pack a day) Red smoker and started with 36mg e-liquid, 6mg is way too low in the beginning IMO. I would start with a small bottle of 24mg 100% PG and a small bottle of 24mg 100% VG and only vape one or the other to see if one is causing your headaches.
Best of luck on your smoke free journey, let us know how it turns out or if you have more questions.
You've made some great observations for a newb here and elsewhere. Congratz. I was a half-pack a day myself, between lights and other stronger, and I struggled with finding a flavor that worked and those damned vivi nova's. Like a great remark above
they tasted like wet soggy sneakers to me after the wick's had been exposed to air and the tank unused for a few hours. Cause I found I overheated one or two tanks to the point of flooding too easily, I ended up with a rotation of devices within the first week. That helped tremendously but as you've seen all 510 devices are quirky and demanding. That's why I'm trying to help people get through this acclimation process and gain skills quickly, so they can see how much more rewarding this is than analogs or even fine tobacco.
Now, on to cheap juice for newb's...
To your point, some of us can't immediately handle higher nic levels or feel they need to cut down right away. Soon though most of us go through a phase where we need to go higher to 18 mil or more when we discover
it's not enough. Then eventually we gradually come back down again. Regardless, finding the right juice to satisfy during all of this is hard
and with all these changes in flavor and nic preferences can get rather expensive!
I found Johnson Creek makes the juice for the Blu, specifically their 100% VG Tenn. Cured product which while not exactly a Marlboro came close enough to pass as a smoke. But I had to find a mild honey flue to blend and knock down the intensity. I'm flavor sensitive. Point being though, this can save folks some money! That is, using an inexpensive alternate base to bring down either flavor intensity or nic levels. I was also slightly sensitive to PG and had to acclimate to that. These days I use 6% PG for a slight antiseptic effect and to assist with the viscosity of dense juices.
Early on I started mixing down strong flavors with pure VG USP 95.5% (do your research) and ordering good RY4's at 24nic or higher, preferring sources that let me select nic and flavor drop levels. Mixing down as I needed to hit nic and flavor objectives. This gave me a great flexibility and saved both time and money allowing me to vape comfortably with full tanks in various devices. This gave me the sense that I had actually sampled the product. That it wasn't a fluke or temporary result.
Among a great many such sources for selectability are Mount Baker and The Vapor Room, the latter being a great source for their tobacco RY4's. Like I said though, flavor drop and nic level options. And 24mg was a good starting point. Higher might be better for some and mix down from there with VG/PG or other base.
Just an idea some of you may benefit from in time and cash better spent on hardware. Improving on that last part, delivery, getting beyond the eGo and customizing vaporization, as you've discovered, is what gets us to the point of really enjoying vaping in the long run
and surviving this!
Good luck all!
