what is the benefit to the spaced coils?
I jumped on the micro coil wagon right off and havent looked back - great vape and easy to clean and rewick.

I don't know if it's a benefit or not, but they don't heat up as fast or get as hot as micro coils.

to my understanding that means it doesnt atomize as fast or efficiently.

To each their own though! thanks for the reply :)

I tried it a few times when I very first started, IMO I think it's harder to build since you have to get all the coils evenly spaced apart. But, at the same ohms it feels cooler than using micro coils or any coils that touch using the diameter. The flavor with micro coils taste better, but if I remember correctly spaced coils don't burn through juice as fast.

Spaced always seemed harsher to me. No matter what I tried it in. ?

Anyone else?

I actually found it less harsh as the vape wasn't as hot as a micro coil from my experiences but that is comparing building in RDAs

that makes since due to the fact that it doesnt heat up as fast.
Maybe I'll play around with a spaced coil on my next build, I do enjoy the cooler vapes - so I dont do super subohm coils.

I've got some 32 ga wire just collecting dust anyway.

I guess a possible benefit would be picking up different flavors from the juice. I know the juice I get doesnt taste anything like it does in the store on an ego - I pretty much dont sample those anymore.

quick question - whats the best wicking method for a spaced coil? Seems like if I tried to thread cotton through it like a micro coil it would jack the coil up - just use a lot less cotton?

I guess less cotton would be necessary since it wont collapse like under the high heat of the micro coil..

At the same resistance the smaller gauge wire heats quicker. Spaced coils heat up a longer section of wick and allow more vapor between coils.

I usually only DIY juice, but a lot of B&Ms in my area at least the better one's let you drip to sample juice. If you want a cooler vape you could also try a center post build, I don't know why it's cooler but it is. There's nothing wrong with spaced coils but you want experience the same flavor you're use to of with micros IMO.

Its cool, I'm good with variety! :) - worst case scenario - I dont like it so I slap another micro coil in - not a big deal. Got some juice that wasnt good on a microcoil anyway so I may revisit it with the spaced.
Yeah - some of the b&ms here let you drip sample too, but its a lot more of a process than just bellying up to the bar and sampling a ton of flavors!

spaced coils are good for when the coil is a little hot on the juice & wick you spread the heat out over more wick.

Watched a video about this... His thought was basically more air to the wick and with a micro coil the vapor has a harder time getting away from the coil due to the lack of space between wraps.

I built a dual coil with 32 GA and 4 wraps on 5/64s each. Came to about 0.8ohm. I like the cooler Vape and I think it does produce more vapor.

If more airflow to the wicks is the trick I wonder why we do more carto style... A micro with the wick around instead of through the micro coil..

I think I'll play some more :)
