While looking at a male RCA connector I found that male barrel end allowed an 801 battery connector to be scewed in but it was loose. Hmmm I thought to my self, If I bought a 801 dye and rethreaded the RCA theads so they were not so tight I could screw on an 801 to 901, 510 etc adapter making my quick change adapters lower in profile. So here is what I did. In picture 1 you see the standard RCA male adapter from radio shack. Picture 2 shows the RCA male adapter removed from the barrel, I then cut off the ground piece with a pair of pliers. Picture 3 shows the re-threading of in my 801 dye. Picture 4 shows the threading complete. Picture 5 shows the result after I ground down the end on my grinder.

Continued in next post.

In picture 1 you see the different adapters that can now be screwed onto the RCA threads, I choose a 801 - 901 adapter. Picture 2 shows the 801-901 adapter screwed onto the RCA jack. Picture 3 shows the super pill fob catromizer I modeled after one that was posted attached to the adapter I made. Picture 4 shows standard cartomizer on the same adapter, I can now switch attys on the fly with out having to unscrew them and change between a 801, 901 or 510 at my leisure.
Hope you like it.

Hasn't this been done? Just thought I had seen someone else do this awhile back, very good job though and great pics on how to do it yourself. Great Job!

I have not seen where someone rethreaded the RCA jack, I have seen the it used in a adapter configuration with the barrel but not without the barrel.

Good thinking Dan! What took you so long?? :)
I bet it was a bear to get a grip on the RCA without messing it up.
?- I have the old link and the sizes but, did you buy the die online or have you found a brick and mortar to buy them from?

I used a pair of needle nose vise grips to hold it , then cleaned it by regrounding the marks off. I got this online from the connectors sticky.
