On my tablet it doesn't give give me the X until after I click on it and open the contest ad. Getting easier just to leave it there.
    Annoying.

Kind of like the new xenon blue headlights font that just got introduced. lol.

I use Ublock Origin, and I still get it, and I have to click the X to close it every time I login to ECF. :(
Right click the offender, select " block element": confirm offender is highlighted, click "create" , repeat for the frame.
    I think I do it almost automatically...:headbang:

    Cheers

I get advertising. I disable my desktop ad blocker on this site and support vendors. On my desktop it's not a big deal, but I absolutely cannot accept the size of this thing on my phone and the fact that the only way to get rid of it is to open it. Unacceptable. Please disable this on the mobile version and if you can't, find something else that doesn't take up 1/3 of the page or require opening to get rid of it.

I right clicked and didn't have a 'block element' origin. It's becoming annoying and has always been distractive.

    N,
    I'm sorry to hear that.
    I use FF 57.0.2 and UBlock 1.14.22 on win7.

"block element" is at the bottom of the context menu.
Confirm that you have the context menu option enabled.
