Hey everyone was looking for a source of small Li-ion batteries which might be able to inside the 801 tube. Don't know if many people have pulled one apart but the battery inside is smaller than I expected and is simply connected with wires. If we could find a small enough battery then one should be able to simple swap it while keeping all of the electronics intact!

an AAA sized li-ion cells is truely about 300 mah not 700 and they simply will not fit..

nice idea but not possible.. e cigars take the AAA size cell..

cigarette tube sized battery holders and sensible sized batteries dont mix.. you can ask the chinese why this is.. they created the concept of a battery powered device running on inadequate sized batteries.. the mini type are even smaller still...

Hey good point mate! The link I posted is for a non-rechargeable Li battery.

I found the site for these:

Li-Ion 10440 Cylindral Cell (AAA size) 3.7V, 300mAh ( LC-10440 ) - LC-10440

Exactly what you mentioned 300mAh but still fatter than an 801 tube.

So it seems the batteries which come with these devices are up to par in terms of capacity. The battery I pulled out of my 801 battery looks like the insides of a AAA sized. So the only way to get more capacity is to build the battery right into the tube itself and have the electronics incorporated into the ends. This might get double the capacity.

Seems like you have come up with best possible battery capacity mod with your screwdriver Troog. Very cool design. I would probably go for a DSE 601 e-pipe tho simply because I prefer my e-cigs to look more like a smoking device. Great product tho, I wonder how much more battery life we will see in newer versions of the chinese e-cigarettes we will see in the future.

The 801 tube has a few centimeters of spare tube lenght and a mm of width with the existing battery, maybe the could fit two mini batteries inside wired in parallel? This would be a fun project I may have to attempt one day.

They sure won't fit inside but I was thinking of cutting the ends of the battery tube and joining them on the ends of the battery because they are the same diameter. Then laminating the whole thing by wrapping in book cover film.

Should be simple to and then you could recharge with the normal charger.

Not worth it tho with only 20mAh more capacity...

we gave it a lot of thought battery and size wise..

e pipes are perfect from a battery point of view.. but the atomizer dies just like any other atomizer does.. we went thru ten before we gave up with them.. for a heavy user a life expectantly of two weeks just like 901 for us..

they just dont last long enough before a complete new pipe needs buying.. thye work brilliantly when they are going... but sadly they dont go for long..

these were our findings... others might say differently.. we did spent a fair time with the pipes tho before giving up..

ps... this aint gonna change until new battery technology comes along... which isnt in the foreseeable future..

ps 2.. the chinese have no reason to change things ether.. they cant keep up with demand for what they already produce warts and all.. more real world stuff folks dont like to hear... sorry..

ps 3.. this place dosnt like me.. apart from saying the concept of e smoking is wonderful.. i aint got many good things to say about the hardware.. he he

Yes the AAA battery wont fit inside the 801 tube but it is very close to the same diameter so if you chop the tube and take a piece out the size of the battery then you could join it back together... only problem is the wires that connect the far-end terminal and the LED light tip, they normally snake around the battery inside an 801 tube.

Well I have not had my equipment long enough to kill an atomizer but 3 weeks so far of heavy use for my 801 (using 3 batteries per day!!) and it seems like new. I have the feeling that the atomizers require a constant supply of liquid in order to keep them cool so they don't burn out, even brief use of the atomizer when dry would shorten its life dramatically... Do agree with this?

Agreed the hardware seems to be fairly fragile but having said that it does perform well while it lasts. I wonder if there was a heavy duty atomizer that lasted say 6 months, how much would it cost? Would this be any better that spending $5.50 on the current ones every month, at least then you get a fresh one. I am thinking of these things as semi-disposable now.

My new 801 batteries from Heaven Gifts are much improved. Better output right 'till they need charging, faster charging and they use mechanical switches which are nearly as responsive as the electronic ones which were far too fragile.

Maybe the atomizers need better heat control, if they didn't overheat then they should last longer. No burnout and no crud build up if they didn't get too hot.

The ideal atomizer would combine less heat, certainly not enough to burn anything, and ultrasonics to aid atomization. I have seen little water feature things in junk shops which create visible mist from water with no heat at all. Apparently Ruyan hold a patent for this but have yet to use it.

Agreed about the battery situation however I still feel that they could cram maybe double the capacity into the 801 battery tube having seen the size of the battery inside and the wasted space. They could make it at least 1mm fatter and 20mm longer without changing anything except using flat ribbon style conductive strips instead of the wires connecting it together.

Such a stuffed to capacity 801 battery should be a very easy factory upgrade which someone will do I'm sure very soon.
