My first mod, hope it's of interest! Not quite the first, that was the PUCK The PUCK e-Cig Mod - An e-Cigarette Box Mod You Can Build Cheap and Easy and Uses Standard Rechargable BatteriesThe PUCK e-Cig Mod A nice quick and easy little mod but wanted to do the same thing in wood. The result is this, teak with oak end caps, feels great in the hand and looks a bit better too!

The NIMh batteries I carried over from the Puck concept, 850Mah, they last for about 5ml of vaping and recharge in about an hour. On fully charged batteries the unit runs at over 5.2 volts and they get a recharge when they reach their nominal value of 1.2 volts/cell
The juice supply comes from a clearo. The next task was a diy clearo tank, plenty of info on the forum on how to do that so I won't go into it :). With the clearo wicking problems sorted, thanks to all the tips on the forum, it's just great 5 volt vaping, very happy!

With the tank/clearo being recessed into the box, if I want to change from tank to clearo only, a punched out blanking grommet sorts the cosmetics. With the tank an 'o' ring tidies the interface between tank and hole.

The parts I salvaged from the original Puck but I'll be building another, for the rough and tumble times, as they're a low cost/low labour device unlike the work that went into the wood. Wouldn't like to drop this one in the sea or some other mishap!

Been vaping for less than 2 months and the mod bug has taken hold :2cool: . Next project underway, a brass tube with mahogany endcaps running 2x 4 AAA NiMh batts in parallel. With a decent tank should last 3 to 4 days without touching batteries or refilling, watch this space!

Great looking unit

I really like The square battery set up

Have you thought of using a booster like the PTN04050CAD

The PTN04050CAD takes 2.95 volts to 4.65 volts input and turns it into 5 volts with a 2 amp limit, well with in a Puck parameter on the output voltage. About 85% efecent, theoretically.

Prospero, Your welcome.

I just got mt PT so I am in the process of bread boarding it before I put it in a box.

Did you make or buy the wooden box you have?

HI, the box was home made from some scrap wood I had lying around. Took a bit of work, something ready made would certainly have been easier but makes it unique :)
