Hi everyone.

I am one month into vaping after being very curious about it for a while. I have been a light analog smoker on and off for years, and finally (after attempting to quit at least twice) decided I could stand it no longer. I also got tired of shelling out six bucks a pack (I know, most of you pay more), ducking outside to smoke, smelling like an ashtray, etc.

The need to stop whatever I am doing to get the nic fix once every few hours, especially at night, was just too hard to give up. A friend gave me his NJOY NPRO (i.e., gas station e-cig) and I can't thank him enough for it. The NJOY helped enough that I just stopped smoking the analogs right away, but the e-cig itself is an utter piece of junk. I finally got some juice from a retailer recommended here, figured out how to load it in the NJOY, and loved it.

About three weeks in, with he NPRO on the verge of crapping out entirely, I sprung for the EM Riva. I came back here to get some advice on getting it set up, and how to take care of it, and how to vape properly. I'm still getting the hang of it, but that nagging urge to duck outside to light up is all but gone. The trade for that thick, analog smoke hit is compensated by not smelling like an ashtray, the disappearance of my smoker's cough, and the general feeling that's I'm doing something good for myself.

I realize that there are many who vape just because they like it as a supplement to the analogs, but to those considering quitting the Marlboros or Camels, give it a try. The weird feel of the e-cig in your hand is forgotten in no time, and the maintenance of the e-cig itself is actually kind of fun. But I'm wondering how long it will be until I get pulled over when I'm vaping and some cop thinks I'm toking on a crack pipe.

Again, thanks to all for the advice here. It's much appreciated.

I am IN and just need to finish weening myself off the analogs. (Chainsmoker for 30+ years.)

Roger, I wish you luck and also congratulate all those who were able to put the analogs down. I too am about a month in to vaping and was finally able to put the analogs down about 4 days ago after receiving my Silver Bullet last week. A good e-cig/pv makes all the difference. I was a 1 1/2pad smoker for 24+ yrs so I know how hard it can be to give up. My last pack ended up lasting me like 4 days so I told myself I don't need these anymore. The only reason I was still smoking them was because I still had cigarettes left. Anyway good luck to all and Happy Vaping!!

13 days in here. Couldnt be better. have no less than 5 friends who are now looking at ecigs. The same ones that when I first got my 510 laughed and said things like it cant work, look faggy, too much work to keep operating, etc.

I have now choked up at least 4 people who said it cant work but asked to "take a hit"......end result was them coughing and staring at me like WTF?? thought u said it was just water vapor.............

So happy with my decision to give good ecigs a try.

Welcome Noz. ;)

Ya know, a lot of those people who start out just wanting to cut down, or be able to "smoke" inside, wind up quitting completely... by accident.

E-cigs are fantastic. They taste better, you get more vapor, and you feel better. It's a no-brainer. :)

I worry about the crack pipe thing too, ha ha. So far no comments. I did get stopped by TSA once going through airport security with my eGo in my purse, but it wasn't much trouble. They just asked what it was, re-scanned it, and sent me on my way, eGo and all.

E-cigs are becoming better known, and in some precincts cops are even being taught about it.
