Hello, E-Cigarette Forum...
I've been a smoker for about 10 years. Started out when I was 17, smoked a Camel and had to poop immediately. Day or two later, tried it again, pooped again. I would be riding around with my friend, and I'd be like... yeah let's smoke a cigarette, stick near the Kroger 'cause I'm probably going to have to evacuate immediately.
Anyway, somehow, that amazingly unpleasant experience turned into a long-term thing. Got off the reds, smoked Parliament Lights through college, and then at some point decided it was better to be "healthy" and smoke American Spirits.
So for the past four years I've been smoking American Spirits, eventually over the past two or three years I got to where I'd only smoke them filterless or roll my own.
Fear of cancer, desire to participate in physical activity, and just generally feeling rundown... I held off for a while, but finally took the plunge and decided to try out the vape thing.
I had hit a few cheapy cigarette-looking devices before, and hated it. But, with my KGO VV and starting with an ego clearomizer and Hoosier's Hazelnut Coffee, then moving to his Gangsta's ParadICE... I found that suddenly, I was totally enjoying vaporizing, and also at the very most I'd want a cigarette with coffee in the morning and booze at night.
Just today I visited VapeRite's retail location in Woodstock, GA... and was in the parking lot waiting around 9:45. They open at 10, and I quickly noticed two other cars in the parking lot, both of which contained people hitting their vaporizers and waiting for VapeRite to open. I got a Vivi Nova tank and some of their Perique tobacco and their VR4. Haven't tried the VR4 yet, but with this Perique... I haven't smoked all day, didn't smoke yesterday, and I'm completely content with that. Aside from occasionally overshooting my nicotine level, I feel like I can safely say that this has been a monumental improvement in my life. I don't smell bad, I don't feel like I have to sneak around to smoke, it has taken a lot of the self-loathing and anxiety and sneaking out of being a cigarette smoker. Glad to have finally found an alternative. Gum was crap and cold-turkey never lasted. I feel like I'm getting right, finally.
Hopes are to gradually reduce my nicotine level - we'll see how that goes. I'm already down from 24mg on my Hoosier blends to 18 on my VapeRite liquid and still feel like it might be too much nicotine... hard for me to believe, seeing as I was smoking nearly a pack of unfiltered American Spirit US Grown or Organic cigarettes... but regardless, if I could reduce to a point that nicotine is negligible... I'd be very happy.
Glad to find this forum, and good to see so many other people have had so much success with switching to electronic.
As a final note... I'm glad I live so close to VapeRite, as they seem to be the absolute best maker of e-liquid out there, and the retail location staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They've got a good thing going there.
