A friend got the kayfun clone from FT (SKU 1494700) and it too seems to be having leek issue and a very tight draw, without the chimeny or top cap, naked the setup seems to produce good vapor.

Got SKU 1630300 and am having great results except can't fill from the fill hole successfully, but that could be a personal issue

Tight draw could be from the air hole being too closed. Open the screw.

Could also be too much wick which causes tight draw and leaking. Make sure it doesn't go into the flow channel. You want the wick JUST touching the well wall. Over saturation could lead to tight draws and flooding.

Random thought. I wonder how it would vape with the screw completely removed.

Will asking him to try the suggestions, we did open the air hole as much as possible and tried various angle, air hole at the bottom seemed to work best.

We had it completely removed.

Definitely should check how the wicking is laying. Might also want to try a chimney coil versus a standard micro coil. Gives more wicking material while not choking airflow or over saturating and causing leaks due to the over saturation.

Then I'd say you have some kind of seal issue.

I'm going to completely dis-assemble it, including the bottom (which I didn't do when I got it) to look in there. The "original owner" only used it once so I don't know how much he took apart. Maybe I'll find something I've been missing.

Is it a true leak? Non stop coming out, or is it just a little here and there?

Too much wicking material can actually add to this (counterintuitive, yes, but can actually be a hindrance). Must be careful how much wick is used and how far it extends towards the channels.

^^THIS^^

With the Kayfun, just barely enough cotton is best.

I'll snap a pic of the coil assembly when I get home from work. I don't think I put too much in - I was a little worried it might not be enough, but it was enough to fit snugly into the coil...

OK,

Here are pics --the last one is fuzzy, but those last two I tried to show where you can see liquid collecting in the holes. 2nd to last pic is the fill hole, and the last one is the airflow hole (unscrewed just enough to get a tight draw). They both have liquid that drips out. It doesn't pour out, but collects and drips like a drippy faucet.

I put as much cotton in as was suggested, then cut the tops off about 1/8" above the top of the ring that screws on. Then I gently tucked the extra down the sides but didn't stuff it.

I still haven't checked out the base yet--that might be later tonight. If anyone sees anything clearly wrong, let me know.

Attempt 2.

It looks to me like you may have slightly too much wick. It's supposed to barely reach the base wall. I used to have similar issues. Then I tried the chimney coil and thought it was under wicked, and it barely reached the wall and base. I have been in vaping heaven for the past 36 hours.

Let me preface this saying I am no expert, and have no idea about your fill hole issue, but this is my educated guess based on my experience and the videos I've watched.

Hopefully you get it rocking. Hopefully I'll get my fill hole working.

From what I understand the ES has a ball-valve of sorts (not an actual ball valve, just a valve that uses an actual litte ball, more like a bleed valve actually) that seals the fill port. When you squeeze liquid into the port it depresses the ball and allows juice to flow into the tank. When you stop filling, the spring pushes the ball back into place and the tank is sealed.

On normal fill ports you want to leave room around the outside edge of the nozzle to let air escape, on the ES's fill port you need to make a seal around the port with the bottle to create enough pressure to push the ball in otherwise most of the juice will just squirt out around the bottle.

Assuming my understanding of the ES's fill port is correct is sounds like that ball valve got stuck a bit, or damaged in some way that is stopping it from fully sealing. Or since it's a clone the company just did a bad job copying the ball valve design so it doesn't work well.

Well, I guess I have a wonky ES. The fill hole isn't too kind to me. It stays sealed well, but it just doesn't like to get filled that way. I wish it did, but alas, not to be, at least not yet.

There's a lot of people complaining about problem ports on their ES models, so you aren't alone, hopefully there is some comfort in that ;)

Some people reported having luck by running some hot water through the fill port for awhile to clean any gunk in there that could be gumming up the valve. If you have a syringe to squirt the water in there with some force it would probably work better.

Thanks for that, Uncle Chuck. It does make me feel a little better. The previous owner only used it once, so I doubt it got too gummed up. I wonder if plugging the hole with something would work? I don't mind filling from the top, as the technique is the same as with cartotanks. If it would work, I could give up the filling port.

I have a Kayfun 3.1 clone from H Cigar, I have never used the fill port, I always take the top off and fill it that way. Try filling from the top, it's works well. I have completely removed the airflow control screw (I like the airy draw) and have never had a problem with it leaking either, could be I'm just lucky though.

Well either I'm unlucky, too dumb for these, or I have a bad one. I've only tried filling from the top, lol. Oh well...:p
