Well I hope this isn't a banned thread, because I am talking about inhaling another drug besides nicotine. But since MAOI's are present in cigarettes, I feel this is more replicating a cig as much as possible, which is what I believe we try to accomplish here. Was checking out some other threads, though not many in depth, with people saying e-cigs aren't enough, and other people suggesting that they try snus or other smokeless. Some people even suggesting consuming Green Tea which i guess has MAOIs in it, throughout the day as you vape. Well why not add some MAOI right into your e-juice?!
Here is some interesting things WIKI says about MAOI's and nicotine:
"tobacco smoke contains the monoamine oxidase inhibitors harman, norharman,[16] anabasine, anatabine, and nornicotine. These compounds significantly decrease MAO activity in smokers.[16][17] MAO enzymes break down monoaminergic neurotransmitters such as dopamine, norepinephrine, and serotonin.
Technically, nicotine is not significantly addictive, as nicotine administered alone does not produce significant reinforcing properties.[36] However, only after coadministration with an MAOI, such as those found in tobacco, nicotine produces significant behavioral sensitization, a measure of addiction potential. This is similar in effect to amphetamine.[37]"
These things seem to make sense with what people say, personally I feel way less addicted to my e-cig than when I used to smoke cigs, I dont know for sure because i always have it with me now lol. But I feel like if i had to go 2 days without it, It'd be a lot easier than 2 days without a cig back in the day.
Also, it seems, from stopping MAO from breaking down dopamine and serotonin, you would have a more pleasurable effect from your e-cig.
So, relatively pure harmala alkaloids are easy to procure, the only thing im having trouble researching is the boiling point of harmaline, to see if our devices will properly vaporize it.
A science project I'll get around to soon, any ideas?
