Advice for someone that wants to get into mods?

Here's some ideas, and it's just personal preference and things I've learned along the way.

1. Shorter mods look really cool, but battery life and battery safety can be an issue. You may want to stick with 18650 or 22650.
2. I've had fantastic luck with buying clones, and in some cases they are better than the authentic version. With the Nemesis being one notable exception. It's one of my favorites, but I went thru 3 of the clones, all from different manufacturers, and all the switches were terrible. There are a lot of posts regarding getting the switch to work, but do yourself a favor... if you want a Nemesis, just bite the bullet and buy authentic.
3. Telescopic mods are some of my favorites. Not because you can use different battery sizes, but because they will usually accept atomizers with various 510 lengths with no problem.
4. You don't have to spend a lot on a mechanical to get a great vape. One of the first and best mechs I bought was a cronus clone.
5. Fasttech kinda sucks. Their products may be ok, but they have frequent shipping problems and loooong delays. I buy 90% of my vape gear on ebay and have had great luck with excellent pricing.

And that's all I can think of at the moment... :)

As a complete newbie to the vaping fun...I can say that for me a trip to my local vaping shop was a huge relief for me. My wife and I were able to hold the ones we wre interested in and try different tanks and juices. Getting some hands on feel for and face to face info is priceless.

This advice is passed out here a lot and I personally think its great advice. Once you get into it...get some experience and a good feel for what you want to do next...then you will feel much better about your choices.

And if you have problems you have a friendly face to face to help you out.

Good luck with your quest!

First thing to decide I think is do you want a mechanical mod or a regulated device. I took the safer route( imho) and got a regulated device first. A very flexible device that helped me in learning about ohms, voltage, wattage, and building coils. Now I do have Mech mods as well as regulated mods and use them both all the time.

I'd take a look at the IPV2s for a regulated PVA. It's a 60W mod that fixes some issues of the IPV2, better screws on the backplate, floating pin, better buttons, and water resistant (reportedly) so juice doesn't leak onto the battery. All that plus 10 more W for about $100. I have one following a VaporFi Pulse, and it is great. It should have enough power for me to grow my collection of tanks and drippers.

Btw, the tank on that Platinum is a Kanger Protank 2 clone, and will work fine with a regulated mod. Just keep it around 8W if you have the stock coils to prevent dry hits.

Have fun!

I've been researching mods for a little while now all over youtube and forums etc, but I'm so spoiled for choice I don't know where to start!
Any suggestions on a decent begginer mod?
I have a vaporfi pro platinum, just want to go the next step up without spending hundreds.
thanks!
I'm not too far ahead of you when it comes to mods. I bought all my gear off ebay once I did a little research two months ago. I believe I got set up with everything for about $120 that includes mods, rda, wire, cotton, 2 vtc4 with intellicharger and little tool box with tools for building. However, I do wish I would have just bought an authintic mod instead of a clone, but I'm the type that's never satisfied. And be prepared to to use a lot of juice

I am new to vaping too.

My sister had me try her mod before I bought mine. She's been smoking the same mod for 2+ years and has never had an issue. It's called "the Silver Bullet" from altsmoke.com. I bit the bullet and spent just over $100 for everything I needed. I've had it for about a week now and I absolutely love it.

Don't buy the "black diamond" juice, it's horrible! It tastes like black licorice.

Good luck!

I'll second the Nemesis clones with one exception; if you have any mechanical ability at all, most switches can be made workable. I picked up a Nemesis clone by Atomixeni (on eBay no less) that was great with the exception of the switch. A day with a rat tail file and a tube of graphite made it my daily driver. Not bad considering I paid $25 including shipping!
