I decided on getting a Kanger ProTank II mini kit with Evod VV batteries 650Mah at vape Dojo but they are out of stock.
Kanger Mini Protank 2 Starter Kit -VV

I found a very similar kit at Deluxe Vapes with the only big difference being the batteries. This kit has the ego-twist batteries with a choice of 650 or 900 Mah.
Kanger Mini Protank Starter Kit | eGo-C Starter Kit |eGo Twist Battery| Ego Clearomizer | Ego W Kit

Any reason to pick one over the other. The prices are close enough. Also is it worth getting the 900 batt over the 650? I would like to keep these in my pant and shirt pockets. Being one is in stock I could order that one now instead.

Thanks

A few things. The first kit has a mini protank 2 with the replaceable mouthpiece and the 2nd one is the 'static' mouthpiece. I prefer the joye eGo-c batts just because I've had good luck with them - not having to pry up the center post, they last long - most have died of old age - sometimes over a year, and the threading is best in China - Kanger is good too. I also don't like the placing of the Kanger batt button but that's mainly because I'm used to eGos.

1000, 900, 650 twists

+1 for the Joye ego batteries, I have one so old it's features are no longer available. But I digress...:)... the 650 mah always lasted me about 1/2 a workday. I carried 2 spares (didn't want to get caught short on a stressful day). The 900 mah are longer and didn't fit my shirt pockets as well as the 650 mah, but I do like the feel of the longer battery in my hand better. Depends on what is more important to you...(p.s. I have big hands...:))

That was fast! From a question regarding one or the other to 2 batteries, 2 tanks, 2 more free tanks and a box mod. Welcome to your new life ;)

Not judging at all... in fact, I have been vaping for two months, and read this thread during my research for my next purchase... which I already currently have 2 batteries, a few tanks and another tank, heads and 6 new juices in the mail... I'm a little jealous of your quick decision and plentiful score!

I've seen so many recommendations for the MVP 2 I figured for $40 why not. Plus everyone says you should have a backup, so now I will. I'm like this with most new ventures I get into. The more I learn, the more I try. I'm itching to start rebuilding coils, that's my kind of fun. I have a feeling I'll probably start doing that within a few weeks.

I'm also looking into a rugged, compact mod for easy carry and durability for outdoors. Something like a Provari mini with metal tank. That might be my next upgrade.

Well I got my eGo/mini Protank kit in today and it has not gone well at all.:(

I found the Mini-Protank to be far too airy delivering weak flavored hits. I first tried Halo's Tribeca and didn't care for it. Then Halo's Torque 56, nope. Then Halo's Mystic, nope. I found them all bland. I was uncertain if it was the tanks fault. So I tried a e-juice I had been using with my V2 (which delivered better flavor than this new kit) and it was also bland and weaker. I get more vapor but less flavor.

In addition to all of this, the multiple cleaning inbetween juices left some flavors crossing, making it all worse, then eventually I starting getting nasty, burnt flavor. Now it's left me feeling sick to my stomach. I've got the smell of burnt Tribeca up my nose and no matter how much Listerine I use, it still lingers.8-o

I changed out the coils and threw on a new one. I'm going to give it another shot tomorrow, I can't take another vape tonight for the life of me. I'm hoping it improves because I have a feeling I cross contaminated with the juice swaps. I'll probably need a compliment of coils for swapping while the used ones soak. To top it all off I may have cross threaded one of the tanks on the bottom to the coil base.

I tried with voltage ranging from 3.2 to 4.2 and my e-juices are 18mg 80/20 PG/VG

My MVP 2 should arrive tomorrow, I hope it fairs better.

I'm not crazy about the mini-Protank. I'd prefer a tank with tighter draw, stronger hits, maybe a top coil. I was thinking Vivi Nova.
Any Ideas?

The airy draw is why I gave up on the mini-protanks. The 'fix' is to break off a round toothpick in one of the three air holes but for me, that wasn't enough and plugging two created to hard a draw. I also prefer the Tabac BCC or T3S coils over the evod and mini protank coils... they don't last as long and imo, the wicks are almost buried in the base cap. Also had gurgling problems with the evods but not the protanks. I had one mini-protank that wasn't too bad - perhaps smaller holes or out of spec.... but I stick with the Tabac BCCs (plus the Joyetech eGo-cc clearo).

Happens to taste buds all the time, particularly after receiving a shipment of many juices. Your stomach ache may be from a bit too much nic, also a common problem, it should pass...:)

Trying a Vivi-Nova is a good idea, you may just be a top-coil fan. Some of us are, I have been for quite a while now and like the vivi for flavor and warmth.

A 510 or 306 atty for dripping, tasting new flavors would also help you and are fairly cheap.

Kent C, I'm glad I found you on the right thread to ask about my upgrade options. I know they are basically endless in this vaping world, but here is where I am. I count the money and look for reliability.

My G6 102mm batts (300 cycles 380 mah-unregulated) are 14 bucks
Halo Triton 100mm (300 cycles 1300mah - unregulated) are 20 bucks
I'm not going Halo Triton because it is a proprietary

I haven't moved up yet so with research I prefer the Kanger EVOD, regulated to 3.7 v 900 or 1000mah, not sure yet, 300 cycles are around 20 bucks
VV batts are 20-30 bucks but if they are only good for 300 cycles then maybe not worth it.

Bottom line math here is if a 300 cycle batt at 900 mah, lasts twice as long on ONE CHARGE as a 380mah batt then the cost for replacement intervals is equal and I get MORE VAPES.

I saw a Protank on a Kanger 650mah and it looked kinda cool too. I'm not buying 'cool' but at least I found it would work. Actually my interest in Kanger started because of regulated voltage at 3.7, the smallish form factor and the ProtanK Mini IIs have glass tanks now.

If I need a course correction in my thinking due to my missing a big concern on Kangertech products ( except a bit harder to find ) please raise a big RED FLAG.
And Thanks

As you might know, I prefer Joye batteries and Kanger clearos. I haven't owned a Kanger evod battery. For me, the button position would be a problem but the bigger factor is the quality that I've experienced with Joye products and esp. the short and charge protection in the eGo-c upgrade batts. I've had several that have lasted over a year and some over a year and a half. There is no reason for me to change when you figure the money factor involved in that longevity.

I do have some Joye eGo-c Twists but for my flavors (and this is an important factor) I can get the wattage I need from the regulated mode of the eGo-c upgrade batt (3.4V) and either a 1.8 or 2.2 ohm coils from the Tabac BCC's. IF I need more wattage, which happens rarely, I can put the upgrade battery in the unregulated mode. But that can burn most of my flavors over time.

I also like the form factor of the eGo 650's, esp. when going out. I've tried (and sold off) quite a few mods of larger sizes with bells and whistles. I don't like them particularly. lol. I know the math involved and I'm more concerned with taste (and vapor) and form.

I haven't had really good luck with the evod clearos. I don't like the cosmetic metal skin on the MT3/MT3S (or the evods). I don't like the extra weight. I don't like the limiting window and I like the 3ml capacity of the Tabac BCC's and the replaceable coils factor. You've seen my posts on the airy draw from protanks and mini-protanks which I liked at first ('liked at first' is a common phenomena around here) but the ones that have lasted long, are fuss and leak free _for me_ have been the Tabacs. The only other clearo I use is the Joye eGo-cc clearo - very good performer but the capacity is at @1.6ml. I have every other Kanger clearo they make except the new unitank. And all but the Tabacs are sitting in drawers. I have some new in box that will be going to classifieds when I get around to it. lol.
