Hi Neodoxa, welcome to ECF! I think many of us went through wanting to get an e-cig that looks like a regular cigarette at first. I was an odd one, I didn't want mine to look anything like a cigarette. Anyway, I would suggest looking at 510's or kr808's. Both are very beginner friendly. You might want to look at MistressNomad's vidoes in the very first thread on this forum. She does a good job of explaining the differences and the pros and cons of each.

I've never heard of the SS Choice No. 7, so would probably not go there. If it's not common around here, there's likely a reason. The Volcano is a 510, which is one of the two most beginners have good luck with.

Let us know if you have questions and what you decide to do. We're all rooting for you!

I understand why so many people want the realism of a cigarette (looks and taste) but I would urge you to really take a hard look at something like an eGo or Riva as well due to quality of the battery. I say this because I did the exact same thing. I wanted that REAL cigarette look and taste. What I got was six months down the line FINALLY discovering what I wanted was something entirely different.

So, with that in mind, why not try a disposable 510 kit from MadVapes, a 510-901 adapter, a 510-801 adapter, and a 510-808 adapter a cartomizer (or atomizer) in 510, 801, 808, and 901. And pick up a 510 Passthrough as well? Go as cheap as you can to get a quality e-cig first that way if you decide you DO like it you haven't spent a ton of money.

Its a VERY cheap way to get to try almost a full range of e-cigs for a fraction of the cost.

$10 for the Disposable 510 (which includes the 510 atomizer)
$2 for the 801 Carto
$7 for the 901 atty
$9 for a pack of 5 808 Cartos
$6 for the adapters
$13 for the passthru

$47 for all the equipment (approximately) and you skip all of the "is this the right style for me" phase. You could spend around 10 bucks to get a decent liquid (again approximate). And you'd have WAY more than most of us had for the first try.

Welcome neodxa, you'll find lots of answers here on the forum. You may want to start at the top of the newbie section in the stickies.. mistress nomad has some videos that show the 2 most common models and how to use them. How much are you smoking now ? I was at around a pack a day of reds and bought a 510 kit but added an eGo 900mha battery and cone for extra vaping time between charges. You will want to get a sampler pack of juices too, your tastes will change and you'll be suprised at what will taste good soon. Spend some time reading here and feel free to ask opinions, then call one of the venders here for specific needs. happy vaping.

I have only been using an e-cig for a couple of weeks now, and I made my first purchase also wanting something that mimicked a regular cigarette. It took me less than a week to wish I had purchased something else.

The models that look like a real cigarette just don't deliver, and as other posters have mentioned, battery life is terrible. Vapor production and throat hit just don't compare on the smaller models.

In order to get something that feels like smoking a cigarette, you have to get something that doesn't look like a cigarette. In my opinion at least.

The ego and riva are both popular, with the riva having a slightly longer battery life.

Hey guys, new to the forum.

I'm looking to buy my first e-cig and can't decide which one to get.

The more realistic it is in size and looks, the better. Looking for a decent throat hit, as well. Any recommendations?

Any feedback on the Volcano Magma? SS Choice No. 7?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Neodoxa, I have the stealth N0.7 I have to say I do like it as far as being close to a real size cig. vapor is good, But I've learned to drip with it and have had better results with it. It does have pretty good battery life...I can go ruffly 5 hrs with it. But I do recomend getting acouple extra battery's if you do choose the no.7, also customer service with No.7 is awsome...I had a few hickups with them and they where great resolving the issues.

Now I got mine before I found this site. after a month of using the NO.7 I still couldn't kick the ciggs. So I upgraded to an ego with the manual button. If I had to relive my last month I probly would of gone for the 510 with manual button...It's like night and day with the manual battery than the automatic. from my understanding the 510 is basically the same as the ego but more on the line of a real cigg style. I'm actually thinging of ordering the 510 just to have the slim battery to mimic holding a real cig.

I have a Magma and I'm happy with it. I really like their atomizers as they seem to have better flavor than the Joye 510 atomizers with the e-juice that I use. I use automatics, but you might want to look at getting at least one manual battery as the are a little easier to learn on and less prone to flooding from an overfilled cart.

If you go with 510 as i did, i would recommend the Mega Battery, there are many types of e-cis but the most popular seem to be the 510, 901 and 808. (stay away from the mall vendors) I use a MOD box i made with a 510 adapter which uses 14500 900mah battery which I purchased from Madvapes.com (which tend to last me four to five hours). Another good place to see reviews is on VAPETV or you might want to check out youtube, just lookup e-cigarette, 510 cartomiser ... ETC... there may be a review on your SS 77 ... good luck :)

Wow! Thanks for all of the replies and information!

Much appreciated.

I went and ordered a volcano magma yesterday. It was the first e-cig I found, and just sort of stuck with me.

Hopefully it doesn't turn out to be a bad decision.

Thanks again.

the Volcano magma is a 510... not a bad choice, check out the reviews Youtube - "Review: The Volcano Magma 510 Ecig"

OK
I just started this week and I bought a Joye 510- I thought I wanted to slow down my smoking (1-1/2 pack a day) after 4 days I am analog free. I love my 510- It works great for me. I am sure I will be upgrading later on but for me I am extremely happy. I started with spearmint and menthol juice. I was a menthol smoker. I do have several fruit flavors on order and can't wait for them to come next week. I stayed simple and it has worked for me.
Good Luck

Hi Neodoxa! Good to have another vaper (or soon to be...) here! I started with a 510, and actually still use it daily... I have an eGo on order. You won't be disappointed with the 510's vapor production, it really rocks... but eventually, the relatively short battery life (depending on your vaping habits) might make you want to upgrade. Don't sweat it or worry about it. The 510 is a solid unit that delivers on 9 of 10 points, and is a GREAT one to start on... if you're really looking to get off analogs and into vaping, well... the 510 did it for me.

The cool thing is... the eGo / Riva types are all 510 compatible... so when you decide you're ready for a little more "oomph" and a lot more battery life, all of your lesser hardware (attys, carts) will transfer over. No starting from square one, eh?

5 packs of carts? if they're 5 packs of 5, you should order some juice to refill them soon. Get lots of small bottles in different flavors to try. I craved that "tobacco" flavor for my first couple of months, so get a few of those, but not *just* 'baccy. Last week I gave away all my tobacco flavors to a friend who just got his first kit.... I honestly just can't stand the taste anymore.

Welcome to the forum and the adventure!

Ratified!! Your taste will change. I was smoking about 30 full flavor menthol--and started 35 years ago. When i started vaping, I looked for the 'perfect menthol'. I never found it, but I quit looking for it!! My tastes have changed. Still looking for the perfect flavor to go with my perfect eGo! The day the eGo showed up was the last day I lit a ....--but I have had a lBic liighter mysteriously appear in my hand a couple times, LOL
Happy vaping

hello neodoxa and welcome to ECF. one thing that you'll find about this forum is that if you ask, you'll get answers. i started with a 510 kit. used it for a year. loved it, minus the longevity of the battery. i'm not the heaviest user, but the 510 battery will only give you a few hours. just stepped up into a joye eGo and it ROCKS!!! i've actually spent time trying to vape the battery to the end, and been very pleased with how long it takes. happy vaping!!!

Problem with 510 type e-cigs is the battery autonomy. For me the best choice is a model like Ego with 900 mah batteries.

I understand why so many people want the realism of a cigarette (looks and taste) but I would urge you to really take a hard look at something like an eGo or Riva as well due to quality of the battery. Wow, I'm happy to see that I'm not the only one thinking that new people in the PV business shouldn't get a regular 510 or KR808 because of poor battery life, vapor and throat hit. I even ordered a MEGA battery for KR808D-1, still doesn't come close compared to a bigger PV.

Honestly they should be banned, everyone's changing to a bigger PV after :p
